Nice Dedra.

Perhaps being cleaned for Auto Italia tomorrow.

Saw its brother today,a red Delta Integrale, possibly a PHers car I've seen before.
The owner said he is going to Auto Italia termorra. He reckons there are two Dedra Integrales (Integrali?) in the UK, one in England and one in Northern Ireland.

If you speak to the owner tomorrow, iva, can you get him up to speed about Pistonheads? He wondered where he could buy a copy. I said to search for Pistonheads on line but I'm not sure he followed my 'then look for the Cool Classic Car Spotters Post thread' ramble.

He sounds even less techy than me,which is quite something.

I'll maybe have a word.

I've watched loadds of shocking horror films - but nothing disturbed me as much as the supercar destruction in The Italian Job !
Back when the film was made they were basically just fairly old, high end cars that were fairly easy to replace (With the exception of the Lamborghini).

The Lamborghini Miura at the start of the film was real and no harm came to it (ever notice how you never see it actually hit the excavator?), and it's still around.

The Miura that is supposed to have Hit the excavator and was then tipped over the side of the mountain was a previous crash damaged insurance write-off with no engine on board.

(The remains of it allegedly disappeared from the bottom of the mountain overnight. As the car was so severely damaged after the drop, and the written off chassis number would have been recorded and known about, theories that this car has somehow been restored and is alive and well, might as well include Elvis as being it's driver! Chances are, the remains got washed down stream in the river and sank without trace somewhere - Hence it never being seen again!).

The Aston Martin has been restored and still exists to this day, as do the two Jaguars (At the time, the Jaguars were just a couple of old cars picked up for £900!)

The FIAT Dino used by the Mafia boss apparently disintegrated due to rust years ago.

The coach survived filming and was converted back to being a passenger coach, used by several companies in Scotland. It was scrapped off @ 1990 (If only they'd realised what they had back then!).

All of the Mini's used in the film were destroyed.

There are three Mini's that are often reported as being the original three from the film, but they are actually later recreations of the original cars with some original parts from the film cars fitted to them.

Yes,the owner called it a Ghia LS 6.4.

A second edition Ghia he said, which I didn't really understand, not knowing what a first edition is either.

Absolutely stunning car though, almost missed it as he arrived quite late.

One or two from the last couple of days, with varying degrees of classic-ness depending on your point of view.

The Miura is the one Lamborghini ever made that I really like (so pretty it could have been a Ferrari! wink ), and the orange colour looks superb on it, but when it comes to supercars/hypercars, if it's not from Maranello then it's just a wannabe as far as I'm concerned! smile

Hey Droopsnoot you are on my turf!

That looks like Shavington crossroads facing Crewe from Wynbunbury if I'm not mistaken.

The Producer of The Italian Job moaned that BMC were simply not interested in giving out the Minis -they saw very limited marketing/publicity opportunity and were rather dismissive of the idea.
The Coach driver, Harry Baird ended up blind.

It is, I couldn't quite get rid of enough to make it more anonymous. That Transit pick-up was local as well, the other two near Newcastle-U-L.

Saw a black XR3i last night.

At the time it must have seemed odd for MG to go from something as curvaceous as the MGA to the sober lines of the MGB. But the sales figures for the MGB prove they knew what they were doing.
