Can someone explain to me why anyone in their right mind would wish to do that?
Incidentally, it isn't cool and it isn't a classic...

spotted this this afternoon, too (see 'Classics left to rot' thread).
Nice, original nick, a little rust here & there, nothing that isn't repairable.
I left a note on it to see if they're thinking of selling

EPH 4B Facel Vega Facel II was owned by Ringo (one of 182 made 1961-1964).

I think EPH 4B was the car at the 1964 Earls Court Motor Show.

Good spot. I've only ever seen one Facel Vega HK500 on the road.

Not counting cars shows or the one I had for my wedding. smile

aside; did you hear the interview with Rory McIlroy (Irish golfer) last week where he couldn't name ANY of The Beatles?? 'I want to say George Lucas, but I think that may be wrong.' D'oh.

I'm not sure if that green one was a Vega II or the later HK500, I'm not sufficiently up on my Facel knowledge to tell the difference.

Where's Martin Buckley when you need him?! hehe

Delighted to see the HK500 on these pages, driven by a Facel Vega Car Club member who uses his car lots. Brave to take it out on such a hot day; he's obviously got the cooling sorted.
It was originally supplied to a Glaswegian scrap dealer in 1960 who had four in quick succession which were all the same colour with wire wheels and on the same plate and looked the same car so that no one knew how well he was doing. In 2008, this car was voted C&SC's car of the meeting at that year's Goodwood Revival.
Ringo had a Facel 11 which he bought off the Facel stand at the Motor Show in 1964 and which sold for £330k last year. It is believed to have left this country.
In mitigation, I took my Facellia to Haslemere yesterday and my Facel 11 to the pub today - but wasn't spotted! However, I was joined by a friend whose daily driver is a white Lotus Elite (old style). But then he's clever enough to make sure it's going to work properly.

Noticing the land rover, it reminded me I saw a strange land rover contraption today heading south through Sherburn in Elmett. it was a series LR which had been compressed vertically to be about half the height of a normal Car, weird!.

Near Teddington (near Teddington Cemetery and the bus station):

Recently appeared. Faded, straight, pretty much all there, bit rusty. Cool. Hope the intention is to restore it.

Same alloys as the Triumph 2000 the other night; the early 2000s having steels with hub caps and the later ones (with Michelotti Stag-like styling) having Rostyle trims - IIRC

2.5PI had the rostyle trims 2500S had the Stag alloys lesser models had a variety of stainless trims.

Two Rover P6s travelling together in Bromley
'70s Beetle, painted salmon-over-white, in Ashtead
Split-screen VW Type 2 somewhere in Surrey
Bay window VW Type 2 somewhere else in Surrey
Morgan in Epsom

The best spot was on a trailer on the M25 in Surrey. I couldn't be sure exactly what it was, but I'd guess a brass-era (as they say in Yankeeland) Cadillac, like this:

1904 Cadillac by Zack S. Classic Cars, on Flickr

We ended up in Thorpe Park, which has '42 and '51 Ford trucks. The '42 may be more appropriate for the 'rotting away' thread.

You're right, the later 2000 had a sort of fluted outer rim. It's coming back to me. Back in a min, I'll look for an example or two.

Early 2000

Early 2.5PI

Later 2000

Later 2.5PI

An early one for me, please.

(Some geeky off-topicness here. Apologies.)
