Spotted in Chesterfield. Lovely original jeep enjoying the sun. Even the ammo box on the front was riddled with woodworm patina.

A DAF variomatic. A friend of mine had one and claimed it would go as fast in reverse as forward but always chickened out when asked to prove it.

Amongst other things, today's spots included:
- Loads of bay window VW Type 2s
- An extremely shortened split-screen Type 2 pick-up
- Rolls-Royce 20/25
- 1920s Bugatti - it was a road car, not a racer, and it was yellow and black. I don't know any more.
- BMW 3.0 CSL

I got some photos of other vehicles but I can't put them on the computer at the moment so you'll have to wait for them.

Tell me, when on earth did you last see one of these? Spotted down on the Mediterranean.

One man's meat is another man's poison, as they say. It doesn't float my boat either, but it is over 25 years old and is a rarity with only two showing on Howmanyleft.com. It's for that reason I took the picture. It's unlikely I'll ever see another in my lifetime, not anyone else on this site either. If no one get's it I'll give the details tomorrow.

On our way to Manchester from North Wales early this morning in our V70 T5 and we spotted various little convoys of classics and exotica heading into Wales on the A55/M56, 5 assorted TVR, assorted MG, a convoy of American muscle old and new Camaro, Mustangs 2 Deloreans plus a few others scattered.

I hope they all had a safe journey and people appreciated their efforts.

I'd be very surprised if it is, but regardless I don't think it's rare or interesting enough for here. I am all for more obscure and not traditionally 'classic' cars being posted in here though, unlike some.

..Like the Sao Penza also mentioned, or a Hyundai Stellar..

Like a nice '89 model Fiesta from LOC - "here's a car I saw today in Battle". laugh

'89 is the crossover from Mk2 to Mk3, so either would be of some significance smile

It is over 25 years old since production finished at the latest in 1990, so perhaps a year out. If I put up a photo of an Allegro or Marina would that be acceptable? Perhaps not, but they are all part of the evolving history of the car. Oh, and two of you are very close to the correct answer.

Ok, I apologise for my arrogance and ignorance then..!

I too though Hyundai Accent or KIA Mentor, or indeed something Mazda/Ford based. No I would say BL or related cars are no more/less classics. I have far more interest in obscure oddities and stuff that few remember, like the Sao or Lonsdale.

Intrigued with the answer..
