That light green saloon looks about right. From what little I can see the plate seems to match. Did you take any photos of that car?
No. There must have been at least sixty Bristols present, there to celebrate the 50th anniversary of their 2-litre class 1-2-3 at the fateful 1955 Le Mans 24 Hours. The surviving 1955 Le Mans 450 was also there:

Out of interest, what is the maroon car in the background of the shot of the LM car, doesn't look very Bristol

Bristol Teardrop Special.
A modern interpretation of the Talbot-Lago "Teardrop" ("Goutte d'Eau") cars produced by Figoni et Falaschi in the 1930s.
Based on the chassis of a derelict 1959 Bristol 406.

Cool, thanks for that. Looks well made, not sure I like it though, but each to their own

I've seen this a few times over the last few months in Newcastle, but have never managed to get a photo. Until yesterday lunchtime in Grey Street. Lovely, lovely thing. A real credit to its owner.

Very nice. bow

Agreed.... 88-90 Model year XJ-S's should be on 15" Lattice wheels and have red over pewter coachlines - except for the XJR-S and Le-Mans

The car pictured, looks like one that was offered to me recently, but i didn't go to view because it wasn't on the right wheels, didn't have the coach-lines and only had half leather (and tweed) seats. Oh and it was a manual transmission car, which i personally think is desirable on a V12 but not on a 3.6
The Starfish alloys were still available on the V12 XJ-S as a no-cost option in '88.
Having looked back through the correspondence i had, when offered the car..... Its definitely the same car i turned down - 1989 3.6 with manual gearbox and only half leather trim.
Not saying its a bad car, i didn't put my friend to the trouble of pulling it out of the garage - But the beige tweed, lack of original wheels and coachlines and the manual gearbox meant it wasn't for me. Plus it had been sitting (in storage) for a long time and i tend to find that only causes grief with Jaguars of this period.

Looks like someone bought it though, and hopefully they are having lots of enjoyment from the car.

I would rather have the XJ you bought too - it looks to be a superb one. smile

Took part in Concours d`Elegance last weekend. I brought both the Beach Car and the Olympic van, as there was a Mini Category.

Some great cars there. I'm guessing this wasn't at Skegness?

I was going to embarrass myself and post "that's one of the worst replica D-types I've ever seen", an then I realised that it's an Elva - either a mkIIA or mkIII I think.

Yuk. Probably worth more as a 260Z nowadays! Perhaps it's time to re-instate the original body? laugh
