That's stunning. Had a 127 as my first car in 1988, was a 1050CL with Sport bits, wheels, spoilers etc, loved it, would love to have another to play with, imagine they are mega rare now though.

While we're on Italian classics, I've seen a green FIAT 500 van a couple of times around town. Hopefully I'll manage to get a picture of it next time.

As for 127s there's one of those parked at an ex-petrol station not for away. Bright orange with white lettered tyres!

BMW 700.
Can anybody ID the man driving?
He's famous for his time in F1, but not as a driver.
Max Mosley?
Not him, but same era..
Seems nobody is joining in.
It's Alastair Caldwell. McLaren's Team Manager in 1970's.

It is, indeed, Mr Caldwell. But who can name his co-driver ??

I know it's easy to say 'exactly, I thought it was Alastair Caldwell, classic car enthusiast and fairly square jawed' now but I really did actually think that! There's a look of the former Mrs Dennis in the passenger seat... What is it about BMW 700s? Former GP driver and Arrows team owner Jackie Oliver raced one with alacrity this year at Goodwood (until he made contact with ex-McLaren driver Mark Blundell).

Is the co-driver Catriona Rings?

I've left my copy of this months Motor Sport at home, so can't remember his co-drivers name.

Yes, that's correct.
I'll dig out another photo of Alastair in another of his lovely collection of cars. This next photo has a most surprising passenger to take on a 5 days continental classic car rally.

Nice spot!

Body coloured chin spoiler means it's a BB512.

Or someone's had the car painted at some time to look like the later model! wink

It's a but more uncovered today - it's on an R plate so 76 onwards ?

It's almost certain that it is a 512 BB rather than a 365 BB, but when it comes to BB's, body coloured front spoiler/lower panels alone (as opposed to black lower panels), cannot guarantee that the car is a 512 BB as some of the 365's had their lower panels painted later on because owners preferred the look of the later car.

It's a similar situation with the 348 series. Early cars had black lower panels and engine covers, later cars had body coloured panels. However, plenty of owners prefer the body colour look and so have their panels painted to look the same as the later cars.

It's a great find, regardless of whether it's a 365 or 512! smile

I thought that junction looked familiar.

Then I scrolled down and saw the race simulator place in Horley.
yes We were watching from the Air Balloon with a bunch of fellow M.G. owners, who all retreated to their cars when it started raining.

I'll conclude my photos of Veteran Car Run spots on a particularly high note.

This Knox Type R, a 'Brass Era' racing car, dates from 1911, was visiting from the Netherlands and has successfully completed the Peking-Paris Rally. Doing an image search for the Type R only returns photos of this vehicle, so I think it's something of a rarity.
