OK you could say this breaks many so-called 'rules'- Not actually that old (as its a late model), Incorrect black/silver plates, Wheels appear to have been chromed.... etc.

But - this is sitting outside in a hotel car park now, against a sea of mono-tone diesel reps hatchbacks. I spotted out the window and had to go for a nosey. Absolutely immaculate, beautiful inside and out. Gorgeous colour too. Camera phone in the dark doesnt do it justice at all. Interior appears brand new.

ste number plate. Is it displaying Blue Badge or is this yet another example of Chav With Cash?

There's a house near me that's had this Lincoln sitting on its driveway for a while.

I hadn't bothered to photograph because, ace though it is, it's far from the only one around. I had to stop the other day, though, when I saw that it had been joined by one of the bhinest Moggs I've ever seen.

With a little help from Rods 'n' Sods, I came across this: https://www.facebook.com/streetmachineuk/photos/pc...

I just blacked out the background because I don't really like to poke my camera up people's driveways, but made an exception on this occasion.

Not my photo but similar to one we saw on Saturday morning, we heard it idling in the garage as we were out for a walk...lovely low rumble then it emerged slowly in reverse and parked outside the house.

No camera to hand and it was on his private drive, so no detailed location - it's just that I have never seen one in the flesh before, never mind just a short walk from my front door;

Not sure if it was original RHD Spyder or (more likely) conversion, but it was a deep blue colour on a K plate (very small front plate too).

Owner saw us gawping and (perhaps understandably) chose to ignore us (me and adult son). Maybe it was the drool?

Geek Corner: Peter Clark, who raced HRGs before and after the war, introduced Europe to the technique of radio communication between driver and pits. In the late forties IIRC.

Well, there's a funny thing! I read and enjoyed John Thornley's Maintaining the Breed and have no recollection of this at all. (MG using radio communication in 1933 as opposed to HRG in 1948 as I claimed earlier.)

It was only one-way communication. Apparently, the radio reception was terrible and the drivers couldn't hear the loudspeaker mounted in their cars over the noise of their engines. They never used it again until Radio improved, thanks to WW2, but it made a good story for the newsreel.

Maybe cheating a bit but saw the incredible 1911 Fiat S76 explode into life yesterday for the first time in over 100 years, It's not been heard since 1914 and comes at the end of a 10 year restoration,
28.4 litres. 4 cylinders and 300hp. An incredible noise and 2 ft flames at idle. Imagine the engine under load!
