Aha spotted the E21 Cabriosmile On closer inspection not in immaculate condition but anyways. A bit later spotted a normal E21 sedan as I was leaving the shops, bizarre coincidence. Also a really pretty beetle at local traffic departmentbiggrin

That Humber's a bit rare isn't it? although I'd take the 99T myself.

Which road were they on?

An HRG, according to Cartell.ie :

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/HRG_Engineering_Compa...

A first for me!

smile
I took this HRG photo on 17 March 1985. A few hours later my daughter was born.
The car belonged to Mike Usher who was the boss of Birmingham Safety Glass.

The two people standing behind watching the action are of interest. The fellow on the right [yes, its a fellow) contacted me last year.

He had just purchased an HRG and found my photo searching the 'net for HRG pix.
He was most surprised to see this photo of the very car he'd bought and him standing behind it 28 years earlier.

At Leigh Delamere Services yesterday I was about to take a picture of an immaculate VW Camper for posting on here when I spotted it had a 61 plate. And I don't mean 1961, I mean half past 2011. From where I was standing the plate was the only thing to betray it was built comparatively recently.

The modern ones are water cooled and built new.

Loads of good stuff on this page. The 99 Turbo is fantastic and I love the HRG story!

Beautifully decadent luxury barge, Rolls Silver Cloud.

Most European luxury sedans have been getting bigger and bigger over the years. Not so with Rolls Royce- they seem to have always been massive. I was quite surprised by the sheer scale of it, made even the bloated SUVs around it look like compact cars hehe

Except the width, curiously. One of the guvnors at the last place I worked treated himself to a Bentley S2 - a Cloud with a different radiator grille - and I was struck by how narrow it was compared to its other dimensions. A new Range Rover, for example, is about seven inches wider. The only explanation I can come up with is that roads in general were narrower when the Cloud was new.
