A few rarities from London on Thursday.
The last one particularly surprised me in London rush hour traffic!
The first place I don't recognise, the 2nd I know is Grafton Crescent in Camden (I sold the flat directly behind the Citroen) and the Model T Ford going past Camden Tube station is seen fairly often (4 or 5 times a year) around Camden. sometimes seen sitting in the forecourt of the garage on on the corner of Camden Road and St Pancras Way.The last one particularly surprised me in London rush hour traffic!

A contemporary advert for a Granada Coupe included the phrase "...just like a DB6..."
Nice, but it wasn't a DB6, mate. And it still isn't.
Possibly, if you squint you might see a very, very slight similarity with a DBS which would have been more contemporary Nice, but it wasn't a DB6, mate. And it still isn't.
In those days, the marketing boys could say anything without fear of challenge

No pictures, as I was busy trying to get onto the Farnborought Gate roundabout, but I spotted that black 1973 Consul (Granada) fastback coupé in Farnborough this morning. It was at the head of the queue to my right, also waiting to get onto the roundabout. I even delayed entering the roundabout so that I could watch it drive past me (it's OK, no-one was behind me ). It's a German car, I think, as it's left hand drive, and is registered as having a 2300cc engine. Which, if it's the original engine, would make it the Germany/mainland Europe market specific "Cologne" V6. British cars ran "Essex" 2.0l V4s and "Essex" 2.5l and 3.0l V6s.It's a very striking car when it's mixed in with modern traffic. I'm a massive fan of those 1970s Fords. My dad had several black (estate) versions of the MkI Consul/Granada, and an uncle had a yellow Cortina MkIII GT. My first car was a Cortina MkV estate similar to the one in the background of those pictures.

One Saturday evening, when I was a petrol pump attendant in the early 70s, a Europa came in with a couple who, judging by their clothes, were going somewhere nice. For those unfamiliar with having an attendant fill your car, it was customary for the driver to get out to oversee what you were doing. With the filler cap halfway across the car behind the vertical rear window just behind the seats, I was gazing down his girlfriend's glorious cleavage. In my defence I was very young. "What are you doing?" yelled the driver.
"Wha... Er... Wha..?"
"I asked for two gallons. What are you doing?"
"Oh, sorry. I thought you said to fill it up."
"Oh, don't worry, that'll be fine."
It wouldn't have been fine if he'd known.
