Very true and Porsche likes to take the credit for its invention.

Nice (and rare) Cosmic alloys on that 4a

Strictly speaking, the 'surrey top' is the canvas bit that fits between the windscreen header rail and the backlight.

I wonder if it was developed from the early open cars, which used the body of an American "Surrey" horse-drawn carriage (four wheels, four seats) with a flat canvas top?

Now THAT is abso-frickin-lutely awesome. My dad had one way back when, and it was fabulous. I'd have one in a heartbeat if the wife could be persuaded that it was a good idea.

Some spots from North Hampshire yesterday (no photos, I'm afraid)...

1. Beautiful white Sierra Sapphire Cosworth at the lights in Hawley, by the church.
2. Scruffy looking black Reliant Scimitar, looked like blackboard paint, with '1971' in white letters on the offside front wing, on the A30 past Blackbushe airfield.
3. I was passed by an MGA on the A30, just before Hartley Wintney. Initially I thought "scruffy" due to paint loss from the boot lid. Then I saw it parked up in Hartley Wintney near the Lloyds Bank, and saw that it was a left hand drive car, sporting whitewall tires ( wink ) on wire wheels, and had similarly 'sandblasted' paint on the front end. I presume it's a re-imported car from the USA, and maintained with the same patina as when it was found, which makes it kind of cool, really.

There was one of the biggest annual events at Brooklands yesterday. Possibly connected to that in some way, possibly find it one of the pictures in the album below.

Drive one and 'll understand how close the Elise / Exige is related.

I saw the odd Europa thread and I feel sorry to see these gems 'upgraded' with Yank V8. Maybe Zetec the kit, but surely 200+ brake will be beyond most drivers skills.

Is no one going to mention the back end of an Alfa Montreal on the left? Makes the picture doubly cool!
