A lovely early XJ-S in between Madeley and Woore in South Cheshire this afternoon. He wasn't hanging about either, I could only catch him (in my boring modern Volvo) when he had to stop at some temporary roadworks.

I'm more interested in the silver RS1600i to the right.

That is only a Ford, for goodness' sake! This is a Wolseley!

Kids of today! Where will it end!

Nah!

You bunch of Philistines!

It's the white Triumph TR4 you should be drooling over whose sexy butt is tantalisingly shown behind the Ford Escort

Me too! I had the white Corgi model of that in my youth. Something just so right about that body shape with the RS treatment.

The mk2 looked a little bloated compared to the Mk1 although a real lightweight compared to those that followed!

Agree the Mk3 Escort in sporty form did look just right - even though I normally prefer the previuos generation of Fords.

Amongst others at the monthly meet were a rather rare 240Z, several very good TR4As, a very early 2CV, a 1920s Renault, A Daytona replica, a couple of Tigers and a lot of beetles, all well restored.

ETA: more photos next month with interesting backgrounds for you to discuss!

The Clairmonte Special. I was lucky enough to chat to a lady who used to own it, her father having built it. Sorry the photo's aren't very good - phone on a very bright day.

Any photos of the front? It appears to only have one front cycle wing!

No, it's just that the nearside one is in the passenger footwell. Maybe it fell off.

Only a rubbish one I'm afraid - couldn't see the screen at all.

There cannot be many (?!) Car Clubs where one of their hard working volunteers comes, regularly and for many years, in his ex-works DB4 GT

  • PS he gets quite tired of representatives of the Auction Houses offering to 'handle it' for him ...

Saw a blue Ford Model T on a trailer on the M6 near Stafford this afternoon.
Plenty out in the motorway traffic including a gold Citroën SM, a BX 16 TRS, red 240Z, various MGs and a couple of modern classics. A pristine Miami Blue 205 1.9GTI and a 2001 BMW M5.

I saw 8 Triumph TRs together on the A3 heading possibly to Portsmouth yesterday lunchtime.

Anyone know if they were off to somewhere nice ?

{I thought I posted this yesterday}

Interesting to see this parked in the public car park at Astle Park Traction Engine Rally this afternoon.
