Just read some of the Wiki,2 interesting facts.

It comfortably outsold the 911 during its model run [due to low cost]

It was also the first F1 safety car,in Canada 1973.

Don't think it was ever marketed in UK,possibly due to Porsche not bothering with RHD ?

a mate of mine's brother bought one in the early 90s. Don't think he's still got it, but back then it was an object of ridicule, due to it's unusual and un-porsche-like looks, and also bobbins engines such as the famous VW camper put-put. Now it's definitely a cult classic. It's one of those frustrating cars where if you research it a bit, nearly every example has been fked around with an customised, ruined, generally by americans.

No opportunity for a photo, but a very tidy MkV Cortina, pale gold colour, spotted heading toward Farnborough/Cove from Hawley t'other day. I'm pretty certain it had a "trade plate" sat in the back window, too.

This weekend is the classic car weekend at Marçon, aside the lake there. It seems to get bigger every year and to tell the truth when we left at 3.30 there were so many cars arriving that I wonder where they'll put them all. Anyway, I tried to get photos a bit different, not the "modern" stuff like E-types but older.

and his wife followed him in on the Bantam

Relatively modern, but I can't remember the last time I saw one:-

This one said "Brigadoon Transport" but I think it said a Bedford Willowbrook. Not sure on that.

And the lake got its fair share too:-

The BBQ:-

Plagiarism

That isn't all, but I hope that something in there that makes you smile.

I owned an original UK very low mileage/three previous owners from new orange 914/4, at the same time a friend owned a chrome yellow 914/4 . Seriously underrated period cars with superb handling and tremendous ergonomics. Not all were messed around with as described above. They were actively sold here in the UK and as with many Porsches of this period their main market was the US. Mine was originally owned by a renowned 'titled' industrialist with the car being bought direct from AFN and then shipped to his home on Guernsey. It was then sold to a British Conservative MP and was regularly seen in the Palace of Westminster car park. It's about time they are viewed as being really superb sports cars...just a shame they were slow of pace and didn't have 200+bhp from a flat-6 engine behind the driver's seat.

Black MkII Jaguar, partial plate '*** EYE' spotted heading south toward Hook this afternoon.

What made it stand out was the massive wheelarch extensions on it, and the 'sort of modernised' look it had about it. I loved it.

Just got back from my holiday in Egypt (Sharm el-Sheikh is a horrible place with nothing pleasant to offer anyone, don't ever go there) and enjoyed nothing except for the ancient sites and the ancient cars. The white Beetle and the Ford were in Sharm el-Sheikh, the first two Peugeot 504s were in the Luxor area and everything else was spotted around Cairo. Quite a few were shot in desperation through a coach window. Peugeot 504s were plentiful, as were Beetles and Ladas/Fiats

Peugeot 504 coupes and estates were everywhere, except for the pathetic resort of Sharm. White with blue wings indicates that its a taxi.

I quite like the wheels on this one.

Just over a week in France on our family holiday at the end of July netted me an awful lot of vehicle photos this year. I doubt most of them will be of interest here, but here's a selection:

1991 Porsche 911 Carrera 2 by Spottedlaurel, on Flickr

Renault 4CV Cabriolet by Spottedlaurel, on Flickr

SImca 1501 by Spottedlaurel, on Flickr

Ford Taunus 1300 L Estate by Spottedlaurel, on Flickr

Both the above used on rallies/events?

Pacific Garage American selection by Spottedlaurel, on Flickr

Fiat Coupe by Spottedlaurel, on Flickr

Peugeot 202 Camionnette by Spottedlaurel, on Flickr

1968 Peugeot 404 by Spottedlaurel, on Flickr

I saw a good number of old Peugeots this year.

Fiat 500 by Spottedlaurel, on Flickr

Honda Civic CRX by Spottedlaurel, on Flickr

Mercedes SEC W126 by Spottedlaurel, on Flickr

Hotchkiss Jeep and Military Truck by Spottedlaurel, on Flickr

Both the above shots in a scrapyard where they also have a few complete cars for sale.

With a bit of work, this could look nice as a Baja Bug

One area of Cairo was full of white bay-window Type 2s which are a public transport service

I think this is a Fiat 1100 but I'm open to corrections

Pretty Daimler DS420, probably the best-preserved vehicle in Egypt. I don't blame the owner for using a transporter.

A mix of holiday photos coming up here! Far more 504s than I saw, here are some more of my shots:

Rover 2600 SD1 by Spottedlaurel, on Flickr

Should be in the Rotting/Left to Die thread?!

Renault 4 F4 by Spottedlaurel, on Flickr

Citroen Mehari by Spottedlaurel, on Flickr

Characterful duo by Spottedlaurel, on Flickr

Classic French sights, the 2CV/Mini shot out of our bedroom window...

Ford Taunus 17M by Spottedlaurel, on Flickr

I doubt this /\ is someone's daily driver.

Porsche 911 Carrera by Spottedlaurel, on Flickr

Austin Healey Sprite Mk1 by Spottedlaurel, on Flickr

Ford Mustang 289 Fastback by Spottedlaurel, on Flickr

1973 Renault Estafette R2136 by Spottedlaurel, on Flickr

Peugeot 403 by Spottedlaurel, on Flickr

Porsche 911 and 356 by Spottedlaurel, on Flickr

Simca Aronde by Spottedlaurel, on Flickr

This had come a fair way from Austria.

Peugeot 304 Cabriolet by Spottedlaurel, on Flickr

Peugeot 504 Pickup by Spottedlaurel, on Flickr

Citroen 2CV by Spottedlaurel, on Flickr

1981 Mercedes 200D W123 by Spottedlaurel, on Flickr

I ended up talking to the owner of this at some services a little further up the road. Fortunately for my limited French language skills, he was English and happily told me a bit about it. It's done approaching 300k miles, was in excellent condition and he was taking a trip back to England.

Citroen Acadiane by Spottedlaurel, on Flickr

Matra Motor Museum by Spottedlaurel, on Flickr

Valencay Motor Museum - Panhards by Spottedlaurel, on Flickr

Squeezed in a couple of museum visits, both recommended.

Citroen CX 2400 GTi by Spottedlaurel, on Flickr

Peugeot 504 SR by Spottedlaurel, on Flickr

Peugeot 204 Estate by Spottedlaurel, on Flickr

Even more Peugeots.

1980-84 Datsun 280C Diesel (430) by Spottedlaurel, on Flickr

Allow me to indulge myself here with this Datsun, first time I've seen one of these in France since 1996.

Renault Alpines by Spottedlaurel, on Flickr

Renault Alpine x3 by Spottedlaurel, on Flickr

Good selection of Alpines at a specialist.

Missed out on a few others, most noteworthy a very smart Facellia which drove past just as we left the museum in Valencay.

Great spotting there Mr Spottedlaurel, some cars i've never even heard of! The Datsun 280C Diesel must have been a conversion though? The Fiat 500 (reg 7566 RX 41) looks like it could be modified with twin exhausts & I wonder what else?
The Mercedes W126 looks a bit high at the front so maybe the engine has been removed. Looks like a BMW e46 M3 is there as well. Great pictures & enjoy your holiday.
