Saw this modified Allegro on the way home tonight. Looked and sounded great.
I saw it on Eutotunnel back from LeMans last night, had 2 other modded Allegros with it. Utterly fantastic

Christ, these were everywhere 30 years ago! Can't remember the last one I saw in the flesh. Would like to see one against a modern Mini for a size comparison ...

A 126 was smaller than a classic mini,so a new one will just be huge in comparison.....tank

Note BRDC badge - they've got a Mk2 Cavalier SRI (with wing mirrors) too.

Daughter spotted that. It was parked on the other side of the road with its number plate that compliments the Fiat and chrome, wing mounted mirrors on stalks. Eccentric people are awesome. thumbup

That's lovely although I suspect that the number plate is worth many times the car's value.

Strangely I saw two on Sunday, one I managed to park next to (albeit a Polish LHD example) and about a mile away there's one in somebody's front garden, which looked rather unused but is still road legal.

Maybe just the angle the photo was taken from, but those are quite some gaps between the door and the front and rear wings. Probably weren't much better when new, but it would annoy me if that MGA was mine.

I didn't realise before that they have different styles of rear light! Can't say I'm a fan of this style.

Interesting plate, given another local 928 and its owner. I wonder if there's any connection.

I've never been able to explain why, of the cars from this era with similar styling, the MGA doesn't do it for me. The Healey 3 litre and AC Ace and their variants, yes, but the MGA, no.

From the Googling I've done, it appears that only the last of the MkII models had these rear light clusters which were taken from the Mini to conform with some regulation or other. A few other differences as well apparently though, like you, I've never seen these lights before and don't like them.
