In Shiraz, Iran, last week. Known as the Paykan in Iran, better known to many here as the Hillman Hunter. Still lots to be seen on the roads in Iran:

Excellent "classic car parking" - making as much use of the space as possible and keeping away from the "door bashers" smile

At a village car show near Limoges yesterday. I think it was once made in Slough as well. Called the 'Bijou'.

This was my star of the show - owned by a Brit, hence a standard of restoration that put everything else there to shame.

Not a Bijou, which was a very pretty little car, and only made in the UK. It's an Ami 6, mainstream Citroen 2CV alternative. Limoges, me old china? biggrin

Sure I did a stone chip repair on this a couple of months back. You didn't get the man's name and where abouts he lives did you?

A couple from today.

Having a pint at Andrewsfield airfield, when this pulled up. If you're going to drive onto a WWII USAF airfield, this is definitely the vehicle to do it in ('43 GPW)

Then, on the way home i pulled over to help this bloke get running again. Fortunately appeared to be just a vapour lock and he was on his way shortly after.

Also passed an Austin 8, poking out of someone's garage. But covered up with blankets. Did talk to the owner, and she uses it regularly.

A few from me:

How are these viewed nowadays? I suspect to most people they look like a kit car.

A trip to Bath last weekend proved to be quite fruitful, with help from my ever-patient wife grabbing a few shots on our journey there and back from Norfolk:

Other things being trailered around. The Metro Van recently sold for £890 on eBay.

A nicely mixed bunch I thought, plus we managed to squeeze in a visit to the Atwell-Wilson Museum in Calne.

I knew that car when it lived in Debden (Saffron Walden) area.

Previous owner was a mate, and he kept it dry stored in his place of work. He had intended to get it restored, but eventually (and reluctantly) decided to sell it. It was a good car, not in bad shape at all mechanically, and pretty original inside. Was originally a pale yellow colour, which was still visible on the interior surfaces. It doesn't look like it's changed much in the last two or three years, either.

Thanks for posting that pic - a reminder of better times thumbup

Wow........missed that at Wheels Day......and I wasn't aware that particular famous Granada had survived!!!!!!

Assuming it's the 'real' VHK 491S and not a silver Granada on 'show' plates, that Granada was the Granada used in most of the last series of The Sweeney as well as in the 2nd of The Sweeney films biggrin

No the plates are fake.

My mate knows the owner....my mate knows every Granada owner it seems....hehe

It was parked in public car park but accessible by people from inside show.

Show me anything from Laura Ashley, past or present, that looks anything like that pattern.
That's the best you can find? Hugely different.

Haha! Sorry about the Citroen mistake - it's a long time since I've seen one, although there's an Ami 8 estate in a garage in the next village here that I can remember the bloke using every day until not long ago.
The Volvo has a sticker on it for a car club at Piegut-Pluviers, that's just over the border in Dordogne. Bon chance...

That will be the one then, I did it just outside Piegut. Small bloody world isn't it. It really was a nice example.

Apropos nothing - I was on holiday in Issigeac and decided to visit Oradour-sur-Glane, driving there via Limoges. On the map it looks a nice short drive. F*** me but France is a big country! My passengers fell asleep.

Lovely country though - we holiday in that area often as we have some good friends at Monmadales just up the road from Issegeac smile

Oradour is amazing - so atmospheric and well worth a visit.
