On the topic of Ferraris which are real or not...

Yesterday morning in Silverstone I was surprised to see a silver 250GTO coming the other way in traffic. No number plates so I assume it was on trade plates (which certainly weren't very visible).

This wasn't one of those 240/260Z based replicas and certainly sounded right. My view is it was probably a recreation from a 250GTE donor, but I was driving so there was no chance of a photo.

Brightened up my journey to work!

Ferrari would never slap a foglight on like that!
"Bonnet" bulges and wrong bumpers are a giveaway. Plus it's got Ferrari badges, which a real one shouldn't have!

French motorway near B en Bresse Sunday:-
I'm surprised that no-one has mentioned just how cool that is - smoking a Bristol through France, probably returning from a ski trip with the Mistress, huge cigar on the go, Charlie Parker on the 8 track. Ok, I'm tripping over into fantasy, but you get the picture.
I did 1600 miles last summer smoking my 410 from San Sebastián to the Channel. No mistresses, cigars or jazzmen though I'm afraid - wife, two small boys and Madagascar soundtrack mainly!

Indeed, what stylish grand touring.

The Ferrari badges are not a give away - Plenty of genuine 246 Dino's the UK had Ferrari scripts and Cavallino's added to their rear ends "back in the day" by Maranello Concessionaires as well as other UK Ferrari dealerships, prior to being handed over to their first owners.

Added to that, over the years many more genuine Dino's have had Ferrari scripts and Cavallino's added by owners who wanted to reinforce their cars Ferrari heritage.

Genuine Dino's didn't leave the factory with Ferrari badges, but plenty of them have the badges fitted!

Yeah I guess the signs are there when you look closely. Not a fan at all of Ferrari replicas but it did look nice in the quick glimpse I got!

I never considered a Renault 4 as much of a looker but compared to that blandness personified thing next to it it takes on the looks of an E-type.

Not sure if these count are cool, but certainly rare, C reg Nova with a boot in Bridgend.

Rolling restoration (well, it had a new front wing in black primer)

They were fairly rare when new so very rare now.

Scrappage will have done for a lot of those... Probably only worth a few hundred quid at the time, and would have been traded in to give life to a Kia snot box.

I quite like the saloon Nova, as well as other small saloons from the '80s like the VW Polo.

Some Novas are over 30 years old now, and good non-rusty ones are worth preserving.

Possibly, that photo is just outside Nantwich.
