Subsection to the kipper rule is that all members who have cars with hub caps must have at least three small stones in each. biggrin

The big problem at that time generally turned out to be either the ignition or fuel systems. This model was fitted with the “prince of darkness -Lucas “ electronic Mk 1 ignition unit , notoriously unreliable, intermittent and totally unfit for purpose. As a general rule one could drive off with no indication of any problem ,then after 20minutes a misfire would occur finally resulting in a involuntary stop on the side of the road with no ignition spark at the plugs. After a pause of approx 20 mins ( cooling time for ignition unit) One could usually drive away for a further 20 mins.
I'm sure you'll be glad to hear that aftermarket systems have now recreated this period feature for old bikes. Boyer Breakdown Branson are the company responsible for such delights. The cure is an upgrade to points.

My Commando started to missfire a couple of hundred miles from home. It pulled the spokes loose on the rear wheel so rode home gently (55ish)or the bike would weave.

Boyer denied the problem could be their kit (I nicknamed it a random spark unit) as you say points cured it.

Sorry, drank all the Sheep Dip at the weekend. There's always the horse liniment.

Yeah, but if the horse breaks down and we've rubbed all its embrocation on our greasy nipples, what will we use to tow the cars?

I don't have an MG, I'm not 55, I've never driven at 55 and don't like clubs so I'd love to be in!

If my speedo tends to fall asleep somewhere on the way to 55 can I join?
Will membership act as proof in a court of law that regardless of any speed the BiB might have measured, I could not in reality have been travelling anywhere in excess of 55?

I went through three in about 7k miles, all died exactly the same. I always lost one pot before the other too. With the first one they admitted it was the output amp, I didn't bother sending the others back as I found them cheaper than their discounted price elsewhere.

Right my fellow 55'ers, back from the snowy capped hill-ettes of the Haute-Savoie. Really pleased to see the unofficial members list growing daily with a current groupage of 52[!], none of whom travel at 55mph. Have received a reply from the folk at PH t-shirt central who've suggested I contact racesgraphics.net [see below]

>>Morning Andrew

I think the best course here would be if you deal directly with Neil, our sticker partner. I’ve attached his email address so you can reach out to him.

However, he is on holiday currently and back a week from now.

Hope that helps!

I'll contact racegraphics and report back. For those of you still to add your qty required please do so as it will make sense/be cheaper to complete 1off single print run.

PS how did the inaugural meeting go at the Celtic Manor? One hopes no golf was involved. God-forsaken activity that ruins a fine walk...
