Could be a connection problem, with mine when I got it, my headlights did all sorts of things, turned out to be the wiring and bullet connectors behind the grille, replaced all of these connections and problem solved. More than likely just the bulb though

Looks a nice car though , they are surprisingly capable and reliable once you get used to them and sort out niggly faults

if Dbest says it's more likely the bulb too then I'll give double odds on (is that right?) it's a connection/wiring issue

There is and I have a copy! The loom for the headlights is about as simple as car electrics gets though.

I'm still going to say it's the bulb rather than the connectors though!

you can always tell when/if they buy a copy and actually read by the questions asked

even new owners with a copy they read are able to answer many questions because they literally have the information at their fingertips

I've seen long term owners give wrong answers because they've not refereed to the 'good book' - even me I think

... until the bad connection causes the replacement bulb to blow

The books 1979 and mine is a 80. After having a look through i can see why you were telling me to get one!

there might be a very few differences or add ons on the 1980 cars so if you've ordered a '76-'81 Handbook don't cancel it

at last! only took blood, sweat, tears and months of badgering, even us old f*rts can be right sometimes just because we've around so long

another convert to the 'good book', you've seen the light

do bear in mind it refers to a new car in 1979, your car is no longer new with the wear and tear of time and mileage and we're now in 2014 so take the figures for things like timing set up as approximate starting points - your dissy's lower mechanism will be very worn so book setting will mean little

DO NOT start fiddly with carbs and things like that look at your notes on 'Important checks on your car' and 'My advice to potential and new owners', just to start with (updates available)

make your B ownership experience a good, reliable and enjoyable one rather than a frustrating and unreliable one

of course he could have bought the Handbook months and months ago when he first advised to, now he's got it he appreciates it and will probably go on to wish he bought it before the car to have helped with the sale negotiations more

I do believe the book is going to help me but i dont wish anything different about the deal. With regards to buying the book months ago.. I was quite happy with my mx5 until i drove and saw the B last week.. I knew i had to have her!

must be my memory I thought I remembered you were looking for a classic a while back

on a more important point I also think I remember you putting something about changing the tyres on this B(?)

tyres that have gone hard through age and lack of use regardless of tread depth remaining on them should be changed ASAP

tyres effect your braking, steering, road holding, handling and ride comfort and noise

if you're out in the B tomorrow in the rain - yeah I know very unlike, a B out in the rain! - then you'll probably notice more if your tyres are old and not in a good way
