Can you use cellulose high build primer under 2 pack top coat?.

I'm intending to prime my Body shell and paint with 2 pack the interior and underside, leaving the top side to a professional. I've got a fair bit of Cellulose Thinners and primer, but no 2 Pack. Do I need to get the 2 pack primer, thinners, activatorr etc?.

I'm looking for a hard durable finish particularly underside and engine bay.

Use UPOL Raptor [tintable] and add 10% base colour. It's a tough as nails and used on many rally cars. Also looks good through a schultz gun + works with most primers.

Thanks will check that out. Presume I will need some top coat for the tint?. I've only a basic compressor too, does need a lot of puff?.
Car will probably be rallied again so tough is good.

The main issue you have with a little compressor, any compressor really is getting the air dry. At the very least you need a three pot seperator,between the compressor and gun.

I'm sold on the Raptor stuff now, going to order some shortly, but a couple of questions;
What primer would you recommend?, Acid Etch perhaps or just high build 2K?.
Also tinting it, my Car is white so I'm wondering if I need to tint it at all?. Haven't bought my top coat yet and I didn't want to just yet either, so I would have to buy a small quantity of a generic White base coat, ut if I'm honest I don't what to get.

This ebay shop looks useful.

I also need some Seam Sealer, any product you can particularly recommend?

Hello Ian, do not forget Raptor is a 2k paint and you'll need to be very careful with masks and PPE. You must use a fully hooded overall + latex gloves + a 2k app'd mask [see Gerson masks] + visor + tape up your sleeve/leg cuffs. 2k is an isocyanate and is not good for your health[read carcinogenic]. It is recommended to use a +ve pressure separate air fed mask for the job...though many folk are happy with the disposable Gerson filter masks.

Re tinting - get a qty of your body colour and mix with the tintable raptor; 10% mix as per instructions. You do not need a top coat with Raptor - it is the top coat. All okay to use either of the primers you mention...though as white paint, do use a light coloured primer if possible.

UPOL do seam sealers too and have been tested with UPOL Raptor. Good luck...

Thanks for the help, safety stuff noted, I've always shied away from 2K in the past for that reason. Just need to get the gear as there really isn't much option.

don't forget if you are painting at home in a domestic garage it will be unextracted, so if someone walks in they will really get a lungful of somthing nasty.
