Mine used to look like that.....about 20 years ago someone's an I to the dude of it, so we had to repair and paint it ! It'll take another 40 years for the paint to fade.I'm amazed at the price of these now, see the Chris Harris thread & video in General Gassing. Think I paid £600 for mine....would appear to be worth 10x that now.
I used to occasionally whip the body off one, replace the floors and sort out the two cross boxes, then sort/replace the chassis. Love doing them. Arguably the only car you can restore properly without fuss in a short time on your own. Hope you can still buy the floor pans, would be a pain if not. I know that replacement chassis are not an issue. I think a late one with a four window conversion and galv chassis in pale grey would be rather nice
I thought people only did that sort of thing to old Beetles and camper vans. It suits it though!
