Still want an Eagle Speedster?

I saw the original Speedster at Goodwood in 2011. It is probably the most beautiful object I have ever seen.I'm no fan of Simon Cowell, but I may have to reconsider my opinion of him. The man clearly has taste.

that seems to have gone a slightly different way than the OP expected...the car has given Cowell cred.
Just interested to hear opinion - so many great cars are somewhat tarnished by celebrity association (Footballers in Range Rovers, anybody in a new red Ferrari etc) I'm keen to hear if the most beautiful car currently available; the Eagle speedster is tarnished by Simon Cowell driving around in one...it would seem not. My Fiat Dino took a slight knock when I learnt Kevin McCloud had bought one.....utterly unjustifiable, irrational nonsense I know, but such is car choice!

For all his faults, he is a proper petrolhead.
Agreed, can't stand the man, but you can't knock his petrolhead credentials - and having a proper period style '32 roadster especially so What sort of engine is that?!
He's not a petrolhead, he's just a man who has nice cars because he can afford them, and he has better taste than typical celebrity footballers and wrappers and their ilk.
We are talking about a man who sold his M.G. convertible because it was 'too cold'. He also drove (possibly still drives) a Porsche 356...
...based on a Volkswagen Beetle.

Not a flathead, you can see a valve cover.
My guess would be a small block ford, say a 302.. difficult to see though
Yup, from the little that can be seen, it does look like one of those Ford Motorsport crate 302 engines. My guess would be a small block ford, say a 302.. difficult to see though
I know the car was built by Galpin Auto Sports.
Apart from maybe lacking Buick finned drums or fake versions over discs, it's got the 'right bits'. He's even running proper tyres on it so fair play to him

Which are all pretty cool. I like to think he bought the Eagle because it's a really good car.
A Series I roadster which looks 100% standard but you've spent £300k on getting it "Eagled" is much cooler than an Eagle Speedster. Gassing Station | Classic Cars and Yesterday's Heroes | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
