I'd advise you not to buy a new flasher unit for the hazards as the new ones of this sort of thing can be very poorly made, clean up and protect the switch, all connections, all wiring, (all earths) and the flasher unit- new flasher unit for hazards, so they work again
- new temp sender
just rocking the hazard switch on and off repeatedly (fuse out) might getting it working, same as repeatedly removing and replacing the connectors might be enough to clean them up but do clean them properly after and protect them with electrical contact grease and make sure the connections and wires are secure
if after all you do need a new unit I'd get a working s/h one or go electronic
clean and protect the sender unit and its connectors and wires and gauge end
to keep things like hazards, horns, wiper motor, blower motor going just test or use them regularly, very ease to do if you use the car regularly
I'd clean and check all wires from the battery forward, including fuse box and connections and fuses, you can do it all in stages, as required, in between driving and enjoying the car
good luck
