Ever had an Alfa? 166, 164 or you could hunt around for a nice 75 or GTV6. There can be a few lows with Alfa ownership, always a slight gamble but in my experience, always outweighed by the highs.

Going to see this at 1:00. Not sure whether I prefer the pre or post facelift models but it will be interesting to have a look at the manual version. The chap on the phone sounded very helpful though and he has owned the car for almost 20 years so should be interesting

If it's as good as it looks then it should do the job perfectly.

I bought it!

Strange really as it was the cheapest one I have seen and by far the cleanest. A couple of minor jobs that need doing but nothing I can't do myself. The main thing that struck me was how good the interior is as well, the leather is lovely and soft and not worn or cracked at all. It's really been cherished and I can't wait to pick it up. Just need to sell the subaru now.

Thanks everyone, here are a few pictures of my own. I hear the 3.6 is supposed to good as it is uncatalysed, and with the manual box it definitely has plenty of power. It has also recently had a new clutch which is lovely and light and I'm sure I have made the right choice to go for a manual.

Looks a nice example. Best of luck with it from a fellow XJS owner!

Jolly nice, these were off my radar until recently. I'm just starting to appreciate them.

Good choice.

I ran a v12 auto, followed by a 4.0litre manual then a 4.0litre auto, the manual is definitely the one to have smile

They eat miles and on a run should return mid 20's, just make sure you keep the rear end well greased, the suspension pivots and half shafts, around 10 grease nipples at least every 6000 miles.

Nice choice, I had one for 3 years but not as nice as yours and many more miles. Check the trailing arm and front subframe bushes regularly and if you ever get strange torque steer on hard acceleration that's the place to look. Also a great place for 2nd hand and new Jag parts is located over in Dereham just off the A47.

A 1990 is very unlikely to be uncatalysed.
