In the Dutch market original Junior Stepfronts (1300, 1600) top the market, closely followed by early GTVs. Later models and conversions (Junior to 1750 / 2000) are the bulk of the market. High spec rally / fast road specials top the market but they are a niche.

My pick would be a later model (post 1973) with more space for my feet wink Davids 1750 GTV is a perfect example. Mustard yellow or lavender blue would be great. The lighter colours suit the Giugiaro penned body very well.

I didn't know that there was such a model as a Junior Stepfront with anything else other than 1300 engine?

It's a bit complicated I know.

Wiki: All other step-front models - Giulia Sprint GT, Giulia Sprint GT Veloce, and early GT 1300 Junior with flat dashboard - featured this item on the right hand side.

".....this item....." that you are quoting from Wiki, is referring to the boot release lever biggrin.

I don't see any mention of an originally produced 1600 with a step front.

The original 105 GT and GT Veloce models were 1600 and had a stepfront.
Neither were called Junior.

There was a stepfront 1300 Junior, and later on there was a normal front 1600 Junior.

My best GT Junior story.

I had only been in business with my own 'shop for a couple of years when I was contacted by a guy called Willie Fraser. He was a dealer in Glasgow and rough as a badger's arse but he had a heart of gold and I liked him. He had a Miura and couldn't get anyone to tune the carbs properly. I set them up and had it going like a top, (an absolutely mental car is a Miura by the way), and I couldn't get rid of him after that.

He asked me to come to his workshop at the back of the showroom because he wanted an Alfa engine rebuilt. It was a 1300 Junior, and the block was in the boot, the head in the back seat, the pistons and rods lying on the passenger floor and the fixings, well just about everywhere. It was covered in dust and had clearly been there for a couple of years at least.

He said that his mechanic had stripped it down because it wasn't running well and had no idea how to put it back together!! He had fired him. I got it back to my shop, cleaned and checked everything and rebuilt the engine. There wasn't a bit of wear on anything; it was perfect! Why the hell he had stripped it remains a mystery to this day. All it needed was a gasket set, a set of plugs and points and oil and filter.

Once the carbs were set it ran like a watch. It was a beautiful wee car to drive and handled like a go kart. After it was cleaned and polished it looked immaculate. I think Willie did very nicely out of it because he wouldn't tell me how much he got for it.

Happy days indeed!

Charles Morgan on the 240 brake Giulia GT by Alfaholics.

Wow. A bit over the top in engineering - 8 mins at the 'Ring! - but what a glorious thing.

When it comes to the juniors, there's an easy Identification.
Pre 70 juniors with the stepfront are called GT1300Junior........number in middle of name
Post 70 juniors with smooth nose are called 1300GTJunior / 1600GTJunior.........number at start of name.

After about late 73 the smooth noses gained 4 headlights and non-rubber interior.
