I very sadly had a dream about this last night, seemingly there was some kind of ridiculously large prize for its identification having rolled on for so long. laugh

Could it be that someone might be winding us up?

Is it possible that it's a digital cut and shut - has someone photoshopped the back end of one car into a pic of another or similar?

Am I seeing something that isn't there, or is there evidence of a feathered edge on the roofline?

Are the wheels at different angles (not due to steering)?

Most of the edges of shapes in the pic seem to show the same type of artefacts that you see when you sharpen but the mystery car has blurred edges...

What about a poor picture of a Alpine A106 Mille miles ... Or a predecessor plastic car by Jean Redele, lots of styling similarities?

Don't be silly, Photoshop wasn't about in the early 50's wink

Good shout there. A quick google from that leads me to the Allemano 4CV Coupe which was said to be the inspiration for the A106. I'm struggling to find any pictures of it, but apparently it was very similar to the Marquis Coupe:

All that seems to be missing is the square arches, but they were something of an Allemano design feature in the period:

I suspect it's a special based on the Renault 4CV

Maybe an Autobleu, not this one but it shares a lot of features

There's too much rear roof 'thickness' for those cars. It looks Tatra-esque.

Here's another 4CV coupe said to resemble the Allemano cars:

I think that's got the thickness we're looking for.

I see what you are saying, but it still doesn't look close enough to me.

The mystery car looks too clumsy to be a production model - the fact no-one has identified it shirley suggests it's a post-war one-off by a coachbuilder to bring a roof?-damaged car back into use.

Have look around here for early Alpines 106 - 108 - GT4 - 110 some do have the squared rear arch too.......

The Alpine was suggested way back on the first page, but it's not a good fit. Look at the shut line at the front of the door vs the location of the A pillar.

Doesn't explain the what appears to be a bonnet scoop either.
Its almost reminiscent of a Lancia Aurelia in many ways, or perhaps a Lancia Flaminia. There are also elements of Abarth Fiats and Cisitalia.

This? I'm of the opinion the actual front of the mystery may be obscured by something at the back of the car in front.

Close - but I don't think the windscreen is vertical enough.

Well I'm still looking, it will drive me mad for life now.

I don't think it's far off. The car at the bottom of my post is slightly different to the top 2 around the windows. I think the mystery car looks a lot like the second pic I posted.
