"expensive restoration" including a "new galvanised chassis" could you get new chassis then? you cant now. And a later chassis is not the same as an early one
so is it really still a 71 car?
looks perhaps more likely the dash and a few other bits were fitted to a later car...noting position of gearlever clearly not a period correct gearbox, steering wheel, later seats,C pillars should be painted etc

no doubt someone more knowledgable than me will have comments
meanwhile this one looks absolutely 100% weapons grade original, appreciate its £10k more but I think it could cost that to get the red car there. If its not riddled with rot it looks a great buy

Here's my 2 out in the sunshine at the weekend.
Niagra Grey is a soft dash, pretty solid but all the usual bits and pieces to sort out! The silver one is a Japanese import in amazing condition underneath. Bit of damage to the bonnet to sort and the interior has been abused when the previous owners installed/removed the stero. lots of bits of cracked dash trim to replace but apart from that she's in fantastic condition. Once all sorted she'll be going up for sale

£15k..restoration project
or £32k for the one at Graeme Hunt thats referred to earlier in this thread and is immaculate
I like a project but still, I doubt you could get this done for £17k could you?

£17k buys an awful lot of work on a simple car like an old Range Rover.
I certainly hope so. I'll be finding out myself in future months not saying its a bad buy, just interesting how the market prices projects vs "done" cars.
looks like its all there, nice to have an overdrive fitted and the number plate flap still extant. dash looks in good order and aircon is a nice to have
v tempting given the rarity, the colour doesnt do it for me, bit effete for the shape imho, but I know they are sought after

I'd say you'd struggle to turn that into a finished version for £17k if you aren't doing anything yourself. If you farmed the bits out to individual companies, stripped body for resto and paint, engine/box rebuild etc and/or did a chunk yourself maybe. One of my recent purchases was full of parts but hadn't hD chance to have a look until today
Not a bad haul of multiple bits of trim, carpet, an overdrive and an original jack. As well as an onubtanium original Firestone tyre fitted to the spare
Once I've worked out what I need I'll put a list on here

Interesting comment. Where are all of the cheaper ones??Just ordered a new rear bumper for my soft dash. I resprayed the old one a couple of years ago and despite spraying it with a rust inhibitor it's gone rusty again. £66 for a new one including delivery. So I will spend 15 minutes swapping it over instead of faffing around for a day cleaning up the old one and respraying it.
