Mine is whining when we slow down, then struggleing to disenage when you stop, it does so with a big clunk, got all the gears there though, if you put it in neutral and then slow down everything is fine
This might be worth a shot to put it on a bit longer...

Did you work it through the gears first? It's a bit of a carry on, but it's meant to be at cold idle, and then move through each gear (foot on the brake!) before leaving it in neutral to check the level. There's only about 250ml difference between min and max on the dipstick as well so don't sling half a drum in. hehe

I must report that the acquisition over the summer is going great guns. Fantastic run at the weekend down to friends for Sunday lunch.

A nice and clean as I'm sticking it through a car wash after every outing to keep salt off it as much as possible:

Anyone want a free bonnet before I bin it?

No letters, but has got liner and strut. A bit crusty but usable.

DA - that looks in lovely condition!
thumbup

I've discovered my vacuum advance isn't vacuuming or advancing. Not really sure what difference it makes to overall running but I've sucked on the pipe like a bad girl and I can't see anything moving inside the dissy.

Went well on the school run last week though:

Is it the concealed or exposed hinge variety?

Ask him if it's got silver raised letters.
Go on. Dare you...

I will check the hinges. Special bonus offer: Solid gold embossed lettering to be applied by naked Katy Perry round at your house.

NB: Only one of the statements above is true.

I'm even finding the fuel consumption reasonable at the moment, local driving is yielding between 12-13mpg, a 300 mile round trip to Frome and back this weekend cruising between 70-80mph with some full throttle runs to 5k in-between achieved almost 19mpg (this was better than my Td5 Discovery got at similar speeds through France!), and a 60mph run takes it up to nearly 24mpg.
No depreciation, no depreciation, no depreciation ....

24mpg must be better than the manufacturer's figures!

I thought people my be interested in this:

It's a very early Overfinch 6.2 conversion. One of the first. I am having difficulties with the immobiliser at the moment, but when it goes, it flies!

Lovely. I owned the last Classic conversion from Overfinch until recently. Mine was the 5.7. The standard 6.2 first found its way in to the P38. When was yours taken out to 6.2? It must go very well.

That's an interesting bit of history. I never knew there was a 6.2 until the 90s.

Mine was an LSE converted in 2005. The total spend by the owner was £110k!!!! About 15 of that was on some ridiculous sound system that I only ever used for R4.

Excuse for photos: biggrin

Looks a cracker. I've never had an LSE. And there's no doubt Overfinch new how to draw up an invoice. I kept getting tempted to buy that P5B that they did but everyone I know who knew the car said it was a dog. I kept looking though! Fortunately it's off the market now.

I'll take some better photos of the Overfinch when I get a chance. I think it is either the 1st or Second Customer car.

The manual claims 26.9mpg at a constant 56mph, so it's pretty accurate considering it's 24 years old! I reckon mine has gone up by about £700 since I got it (I did get it very cheap), and I've used around £1000-1200 in fuel in the 2500 miles I've had it, cheap motoring driving

Just wow cloud9 Just about the only thing I'd chop mine if for would be an Overfinch RRC, lovely things.

Just noticed it what it sold for last year - if only the immobiliser is a problem, that was a serious bargain.
