I caught the warranty salesman giving a positive review of the Classic on C5 during the week.
Indeed. Kind of glossed over the P38... there was one but it didn't get a mention.
I haven't looked but I did wonder if you can buy a brand new L405 for £60k as well. I 'd imagine they are a bit more than that.
But a good piece and I do feel the show is slowly getting better. Only fair to give it a fair crack.
The presenters are fairly easy to look at, well one of them anyway.
It's all a bit jilted and very old school in presenting style but it's nice to see some good old cars on normal TV. I like Wilson and Martic Clunes is always quality although he isn't as funny in this show as usual.

I was surprised by the £60k for the latest van and I think his £110k was low for the original as I think one went for more than that last summer?

You're clearly a hard man to please! Give her a chance, she clearly likes the metal.

smile

In fairness, she is a car nut and far from the worst presenter on TV. It's going to take a series or two for them to propey gel and get into a proper rhythm.

And baring in mind it's C5 the content is pretty good also.

Would benefit from adding someone like Harry Metcalfe for the 'roving reporter' pieces.

How about some new spring time RRC photos?

I'll start with mine towing my daughters new horse to her first event of the year

It made a change from the sea of Discovery's there. There was one other Classic there but didn't get chance to chat

Like the pics chaps.
thumbup

Talking of Spring time, anyone know anything about sunroofs? Mine only works on "one side" of the switch if that makes sense.
It will tilt open electrically, but I have to manually wind it shut.
It will slide closed electrically, but I have to manually wind it open.

Both these electrical functions are the same press of the switch, so I swapped the switch with one of my window ones which I knew worked in both directions, but it didn't make any difference. The sunroof moves easily and I can see the little mark in the slot when it is closed so it seems to be timed correctly.

It's a 1993 glass sunroof if that makes any difference. It would be good to have it working this year if anyone has any ideas!

Sorry, I've no idea. But as the Classic above has the factory sunroof, I suspect that as well as keeping a bin bag and some gaffer tape in the boot I ought to also learn how to fix them. wink

I've been enjoying the sunroof all week and it has made me think that I might fit a full length Webasto to my other one and vinyl the roof.

If yours is the same as mine, check the drains are clear and if you haven't got the T-shaped handle, you need a big slot bladed screwdriver to wind it all shut when if the electrics give up.
hehe

Mine works fine, which is lucky. The chap I bought it off said he never used it as it didn't leak and he decided it was best to keep it leak free! I took a risk and enjoy it, especially as the AC isn't that cold anymore

Your roof problem seems a weird but I'm hopeless with stuff like that - sorry!

Yay!! Got my Rangie back after >ahem< months at a local specialist because life was just too busy.

Boo!! Life is still too busy so a new custodian must be found.

(but yay!! I convinced Mrs Paco we needed a V8 Discovery 3 to replace this and her car)

Chaps, I'm getting somewhere with my inoperative sunroof. The relays had failed on the ECU, but now all is well after a spell with an electrickery boffin.

Could one of you do me a favour sometime please? During my exploratory work I found this:

If you have a glass sliding sunroof, next time you open it please can you see if you have one of these attached anywhere? I can't work out where it goes. I have seen them described as a tensioner e.g.
http://www.roversnorth.com/ProductDesc.aspx?code=E...

I found it laid at the front in one of the tracks.
Many thanks!

I know that feeling well! Big screwdriver will wind the motor if required.

Found a small hole this week in the rear wheel arch on mine, visible from the outside, probably at approximately 2 o'clock as you look at the OSR wheel and right towards the inside - saw it when I was looking for the fuel filter, if that helps locate it. It's not up by the door/seatbelt point, that has already been done on mine.

Question is, is that considered structural? Just haven't got time to tackle that right now!

Sorry to hear that. I think as long as it's not too near a suspension, seatbelt or body mount you'll be ok.
Can it let water through into the boot? You might want to bung it up before you get it sorted properly.

Cheers Rick. It's body rather than chassis so I guess that rules some of the options out! (Except seatbelts). It'll need attention at some point rolleyes

I'll try to remember to have a look tomorrow but it doesn't look familiar.

Peering at the edges of the aperture all I could see that might be that part is the spring for the little spoiler that raises when the roof is opened fully.
