Bloody hell VJJ that sounds like a potent old boat clap bet it goes and sounds brilliant biggrin

Had a bloke pull up alongside me earlier at a junction and signal me to wind the window down, Thought "Ahh st I must be a light out on the back". Broad Irish accent and a "Would you be interested in selling 'er mate?". Told him no chance I've sunk too much into it and we carried on down the road. Was a rather random conversation!

I was in awe of the classic Range Rover and Dino being restored at the garage where my E30 was being restored. I remember thinking that could be a near perfect combination do it all cars for my garage.

ah, rangerovers.

I once spent a drive in the back of one (boot section) with another kid (some st called mitchell).

For some reason in the boot there were spanners and hardhats.

Naturally we put the hardhats on and bashed one another on them with the spanners.

This rather shocked the people following.

I had a 95 softdash that was starting to look very ropy. So I did full respray replacing both tailigates and repairing all the rust, new interior with Recaro seats, new deep pile carpets, fiberglass roof lining, polybush suspension, bigger wheels Pirelli scorpion tyres and to top it all a 4.6 litre engine with stage 3 heads, tubular manifolds, fully ported, mallory distributor - you name it in fact. 280 bhp.

This ties in well with the other recent TOTD - modifications I instantly regretted.

It was fast - but it was ruined.
The character was gone.
Never loved it.
Loved the old heap it was before I modified it.

Wish I had just restored it properly, possibly with a 4.6 engine.

My personal opinion is that polybushes ruin these cars. They make them rattley and juddery in my experience.

The old man is currently in the process of replacing the chassis on his 1990 V8 Vogue which he has owned from new.

I've asked him for a bunch of photos so I can stick them up.

He's asked me if anyone knows of a dash top sat nav adapter (much like the one on the Overfinch interior earlier in the thread) that he could buy?

Thanks,

Keith

I have had my RR Classic now for about 3 years and love it apart from the MPG but I only use her for towing the race car around. M plate 64k on the clock and working A/S still.

Morning. That was a bespoke Alpine install by the previous owner which cost him nearly £20 or £30k! The chubby box was adapted and full of single din units and the right hand side of the boot had a cabinet with God knows what in there. I found it mild overkill for Radio 4

But all the dash screen was was a bespoke triangular box attached over where the coin tray had been removed using the same locating holes.

Can't wait to get mine back soon, just had new inner and outer sills, boot floor, inner wings etc. Now being prepared for a undersealing and a full respray thumbup

Saw so many of these bobtailed and generally ruined when I was younger that when I finally bought my own one, I decided I should preserve it.

Got loads of trips planned this summer including a couple of European trips, and if I'm feeling brave enough maybe the LRO Show off road course. It is a Land Rover after all, just because it's mint doesn't mean you can't take it off road smile

Could there be a middle front seat be installed like the defender?

Yes. For a very small dwarf with no arms or legs called Bob. wink

Landy fans say that the front seats are right up against the doors leaving no room for your arms so that you can judge off-road situations better but the reality is that they were shoved out so as to be able to squeeze that third seat in. Being able to drive with you arm and head out the wonder like a distempered Labrador is a by product.

Very nice. Do you drive it much? If so, how do you find the wing mirrors instead of door mirrors?

I'm still in two minds on my 72 project as to which way to go.

Just read this whole thread over the course of today. Now have major want for a Classic Range Rover. I have no need for one, just major want.

My only experience of one was nearly thirty years ago. My old scout leader had a four door Vogue which I got a lift in once. It seemed proper posh and I've never forgotten the time I spent in it.

Someone mentioned Kingsley earlier in the thread so I had a little look. My fantasy Lotto garage has a new addition....

This thread is making me miss my Dad's old Range Rover - CHT630V, I have such good memories of that car.

Here's mine (Only pic I have without firing up the other PC)

4th Rangie I've owned. I took her for the MOT today and she flew through!

Fantastic cars, when I sold my 3rd RRC last year I instantly regretted it so bought this one about 6 months later I can't see her being sold anytime soon.
