I think the original fitment on the three spokes was 205/16.
Going to a 235/70/16 gives more choice in modem tyres. I believe it was a Discovery size and is used on plenty of other cars. No need to go wider than that though.

255 is too wide for the standard wheels. As above, 235 is a size which came on the same width rim - currently have Michelin Latitude Cross with no issues, although the tread pattern isn't particularly period.

Standard fitment was 205/16. I have 225/75 on mine which fits fine. Previously had 235/70 and they would rub slightly on full lock so had to adjust the locks stops. 255 is doable but you would definitely have to adjust the lock stops. Can't really comment on actual tyre choice as I run A/T tyres on mine.

Thanks for all the advice. Going for 205/80 R16 Continental Cross Contact.

Yes, sorry I meant 205 on my earlier post.

Had 255's on the Overfinch and it reduced the turning circle.

I've Continentals on the EFI at the moment, they seem fine.

If low noise is your main priority and you're staying on the tarmac, I highly recommend Goodyear Efficient Grip.

Well, my car has passed the one hour drive home from buying test. Has anyone ideas why lights below bumper fitted? Am going to remove. Also twice on way home steering 'snagged'. Any ideas please?

I presume those are rear fog-lights.

Could be useful when hitching a trailer up in the dark?

Steering snagged? Like suddenly became heavy for a moment? It sounds like the belt slipping? K ref would be pre serp usually so separate belts for the ancillaries. I had one go at the bottom of the M1 just on the turn in to the north Circular. My God was it hard work to get it round the bend, it really loads up without assistance.

You need to take it back.
It should have a line of corrosion along the bottom of the lower tailgate.
biggrin

No idea about the lights. They would have made more sense if they were reversing lights for trailer hitching and the like.

Chaps, can anyone help? I'm being a bit dim with my headlight washers. I have a hose from each washer jet on the bumper, and one coming from the pump. They connect with this dingus which has a spring operated valve in it. Which pipe goes where? I can't fathom it. I "think" the feed from the pump should go into "C" and out to the jets via "A" and "B", but I'm really not sure!

Exactly that! Attention getter I can tell you. Thanks for the tip. Will mention at service.

If it is a belt slipping rather than an issue with the pump then it's a very simple job to retention it but one of the first things I do when I take delivery of an old car is to quickly change all the belts anyway. They are dirt cheap and simple to change and in my experience the root cause of most motorway picnics.

Correct - Pump feeds "C"
Washer jets supplied by "A" and "B"

Assuming it's a genuine listing, this looks interesting for someone. Seems in very good order, if not entirely original?

Strange set of pictures though!
