nice that, I must admit, I am starting to prefer the early 4 doors. somehow cooler. Mine from the same year not quite as nice inside yet! 😂😂
Hopefully will be in a few months though. R380 long stick purchased to replace that 3 speed auto...

Looks like you have a few classics there.
thats at Twenty Ten in Redditch. pure RRC pornthey have q a few restos on the go there, ranging from 100pc period correct ex queens household, to a 2 door I saw with a p38 4.6 going in that had been painted a v nice grey metallic
there was a bahamas gold car there that someone had just bought and literally driven straight to Twenty Ten and said words to the effect of "its rubbish to drive, please make it faster and better!"
the special order black 82 4 door in the photo is mine though which is just being readied for sale
once the funds are in from that, work on the silver 4 door will commence.

I still think the pre 85 4 doors are the one to have if you plan to use a Rangie on the road. Firstly the parts are a bit easier to source, secondly they are more practical and thirdly they are lagging most other types in value. Hopefully will be in a few months though. That silver one is very high spec. But for the fact the door cappings don't have inlay, I'd say that was an In-Vogue
I will be intrigued to see what it goes for given how similar it is to mine;
Back on this having been up to Redditch last week...I will be intrigued to see what it goes for given how similar it is to mine;
how would I establish if it was an 83 In Vogue auto. Would it say that on the V5?
as per this link:
http://www.range-rover-classic.com/Home/land-rover...
thing is it fits the description:
sierra silver
aircon
armrests and rear headrests
full carpet
3 speed auto
Y reg , April 83
apart from as per Clapham GT3, the wood inlays dont have inlays.
so...not saying it is...but is there a definitive way to tell?
thanks
Hi Squiredan, Gaydon should be able to tell you from the VIN number. The problem with the In-vogues was that they were Part equipped in the factory and part finished at the supplying dealer (the dealer fitted the picnic hampers, alloys and side decals for example) so quite often a genuine In-Vogue will have seemingly key bits missing.
Equally, as the In-Vogue was always a limited edition, a lot of people back in the day who missed an In-Vogue, specked a standard 4 door to almost equivalent spec. Most of those cars were Sierra silver as, even in the day, most people acknowledged that the gold ones were pretty gopping

I'm going to google them.
I so regret not buying a Vogue SE in decent nick I got offered for very little money a few years back.
Sadly I doubt I'll ever get one as a fun car now. I'm hoping to persuade the Bank of Mrs Wildcat45 that an early L322 might be nice.
their website is rubbish. as is their FB page. think business must be word of mouth as Phil is always busy but appears to spend no time on marketing. hard enough to get a call back as an existing customer ! thanks chaps, good knowledge
Tim - i saw the engine and it looks great, managed to get a rebuilt R380 with the correct bellhousing which wasnt easy...so I am good to go
think I will run it on CSK type alloys with the inner bits gunmetal...reinstate the coachline once its all been repainted...cant wait (although...wait is exactly what I'll no doubt de doing for another 6 months)

Hi Dan. Glad you like it. I remember then exploring using a R380 that getting the right bellhousing was quite difficult. I can't remember what the reason was but it was something to do with the lever inside the housing?Tim - i saw the engine and it looks great, managed to get a rebuilt R380 with the correct bellhousing which wasnt easy...so I am good to go

Yes I was expecting screen after screen of RRC porn.
there is a well known Oxfordshire based purveyor of suchI have tended to find in classic car land an inverse correlation between website and quality of work...somehow the good guys are always over-run with work and dont need to bother with proper web presence
