Donkey apple, what are those wheels on your green two door?

I'm currently restoring a 91 200 tdi range rover and am undecided to keep it the original colour or one I prefer. It's a dark bronzes redish colour with Gary interior. Il keep it to its period but may have it finished more to my liking. I must get some pictures up soon!

Great to see so many different styles of range rover on here!
They are a wolfrace wheel. I think called 'turbines'. They were used on a lot of the 70s/80s conversions.
There is a very rusty red 2 door on eBay 71/2 I think with a set in gold. Best part of the car!
There's a Bahamas gold one with brown panelningills with them also.

Have you noticed the huge number of LHD cars currently? It's as if everyone was trying to import them last year and they've all arrived at Southampton at the same time.

I got my "new" Range Rover yesterday! (bought blind on ebay..) It's definitely a bit of a project but overall it's not too bad. Structurally it seems good with little obvious serious corrosion and the bodywork looks OK with a few scratches and dings, but little corrosion. The engine seems smooth and powerful and it drives very well.
There's already a good list of stuff to fix
- the upper tailgate won't shut properly so the central locking won't lock
- there's an unpleasant noise from somewhere on top of the engine (one of the ancillaries - I think it's the alternator)
- the traction control light is on (I didn't think this one had TC as it's a '94 non SE on springs)
- generally it's bit tatty inside and needs a good clean
- headlining makes it feel like a tent in the back!
At least it was cheap, and it looks pretty cool (IMHO):

Looks great. Try pressing the tailgate at each bottom corner, rather than from the central handle. Give the catches a good lubing and work them backwards and forwards as they seize up.

Blocked Injectors.
Certainly a thought. You should have borrowed Cliff's. biggrin
Sometimes they come up on eBay as exchange sets, or you can send yours off for refurbing.

Sparkey, looks great, congratulations. Same colour and wheels as mine.

With the upper tailgate trying making sure the button is pulled all the way out and then giving a firm close.

Thanks for the tailgate advice. I've got it closed now - it needed some adjustment of the rods that run along inside the tailgate. Unfortunately getting to them involved ruining the retained for the rubber seal and also revealed some rust holes on the tailgate. I think a complete strip down and a bit of welding required there unfortunately. I though that might fix the central locking which works to open all doors, but doesn't lock them - unfortunately it's still the same.

Overall I think this Range Rover might need a bit more work than I initially thought, but hopefully it'll work out OK in the end..

I've a feeling I'm about to become a Range Rover expert whether I like it or not !

Out of interest what did you pay for a not expensive unseen CRR off eBay, I'm feeling like a gamble myself....

Thanks for the suggestion and the offer! I dropped the other bits off to the guy who's doing the car earlier, he's definitely going to have the injectors out (hopefully this week) and see what's what. He's the type of person who will happily dig through all the bits he has lying around to rig up a little test bed for them, and he'll enjoy doing it (he loves old-school engineering his way around a problem). I think we'll try Cliff's relays first just in case that's what is stopping the fuel getting in, but since one plug was wet, I suspect it won't be that anyway. If they don't work, or if he can't set anything up, I'll let you know Cliff and head back over (with a pocket full of dog biscuits!).

Unfortunately he has to remove a fair chunk of the gas installation to get the injectors out, so it will take a little longer, but I'll report back after, and let's hope it's positive!

Anorak level detail I know - apologies

On my new In Vogue the wheel centres have been incorrectly painted

This can be seen comparing the 2 photos below - mine are blue vs the brochure clearly showing grey

Any idea how I can work out the correct shade of grey?

You're correct, they should be grey. However, I've never seen a paint code reference for the shade of grey. The range rover classic books and restoration guide just refer to it as "light grey enamel".

The shade, in real life, is a lot lighter than you'd expect. Quite a few shades lighter than gunmetal grey for example.

Cheers, Steve

Forgot to add, that I have an original set here that I'm going to get refurbished. If you're not in a rush, I'll get them to scan them, find the nearest RAL colour when they refurbish them, and let you know.

I think there might have been more than one shade as I'm sure I've noticed the common lighter ones like on my 89 but I'm convinced I've seen darker ones.

At the moment I have no plan except to sell it ..... she goes like hell and sounds sweet. Is a working fire engine and all tested. Pump and tank good and has cost the brigade operating her thousands to keep on the front line.... I get it when I deliver the new truck!!

I do love her though for some strange reason a 6x6 has got to be right!!!
