Hi,

I have a '88 911 3.2 Carrera which is wearing it's original Dick Lovett Swindon dealer plates.

The front one is a bit twisted and cracked. The back one is a bit faded.

I know the DVLA are now uber heavy on plates being made and that they have to conform to modern regs with postcode/narrow 2001 on font/registered seller etc etc.

So I'm looking for a company that will make me a perfect copy of my existing plates with the Dick Lovett logo etc.

Anyone out there that can perform such an outrageous request??!

Try www.fancyplates.com

They'll do pretty much anything as long as you say it is a "show plate".

Contact Dave at www.dmb.uk.com. take plenty of photos of your old plates squire on and close up and he'll be able to custom make you a set in the pre 2001 font. Ace company to deal with.

Wow holy thread finding luck!

I have exactly the same issue with my 928GT also supplied by Dick Lovett and was wondering how I could keep the authenticity of the original plate.. question answered.

Thanks for posting that I will get one ordered smile

Well, DMB came up trumps for me - I ordered some last week and they turned up on Tuesday - I'll be putting them on over the weekend so will post some pics.

I wanted them in the 57mm wide font - ie 80s/90s style, my no. reproduced plus the Carrs of Exeter and Porsche logos at the bottom.

Funny thing is, CoE wasn't the original suplying dealer - Dick Lovett was, Swindon branch - but the car has CoE tax disc holder (soon to be redundant) and also a CoE sticker in the back window - so I wanted to keep it like that. The plates I have had snce I bought the car were the 50mm wide 2001 ones - they looked okay - just a bit 'wrong' ... (and they were beginning to look a bit tatty) ...

Sent a pic or two to DMB and they matched them 100% ... (but with the wider font)

Current plate - a bit worse for wear and too thin a font ...

Comparison before swapping over ...

New plate on the car - superb

You've done well there. I tried to get a new plate made incorporating the original dealer bits and pieces but the supplier wouldn't reproduce someone else's logo for some sketchy legal reason.

I've used dmb a few times now and always found them good. They do a lot of stuff for RSOC too, and they really are fussy buggers!!
