Getting some of the auxiliaries working on my 1968 Maserati Mexico project and there is a problem with both electric windows. Both motors work and the Windows go up and down correctly, but won't move if the window is at the top or bottom. The problem looks to lie inside the limiter switches which have crud plungers which are either stuck or broken.

I thought that they would be easy to find, but the writing translates at 'pattented', so does anybody recognise them or know anybody who does replacements or refurbished ones?

Thanks

Paul

Don't recognise them and can't help on that score, but could you remove that bit and fit micro switches somewhere to do the same?

Before doing anything else remove all and I do mean all the old grease and crud from the gears and drives especially the the worm drives cables if fitted ,the old crud of years really does bind everything up and modern lubes and greases will make everything run so much easier. Replacing electric components without cleaning the drives and gears will only lead to frustration !
I hope I'm not teaching granny about eggs.

Cheers, I'm going to give them a clean and silicon-spray the guides as the grease is very waxy and will do same with the switches... It's horrid sticky stuff at the moment and certainly isn't helping.

I bet that once you've cleaned them they'll work fine.

Use a gunk tank and stiff brush if you have one , and give them a good soaking , rinse and repeat get all the old stuff out , some of it will be like chipped off metal teeth .Regrease with modern products as soon as dry and work the mechanism to its full travel to coat every moving part .You will be suprised how easily everything moves .
Don't forget the window channels !
I learned the hard way !

Just a little update, after several nights in the garage, I now have working electric windows on both sides woohoo

Both limiter switches needed repairs internally due to broken pins. The original plastic guides just crumbled so the guides which were re-made in brass using some spare brake hose unions, cut down and drilled out to take the re-used plastic plungers. The whole mechanism was stripped down and cleaned including the motors which needed the bearings greased, then cleaned the guides and re-greased all the pivots and re-assembled. The limiter switches both work as they should and whilst the windows come down faster than they go up, the difference is marginal.

Another job done thumbup
