Need help wth ideas of future classics
Discussion
I have been looking for a nice future classic roadster but doesn't have to be a roadster
Making a long list such as:
Nissan 350 Z, only colour I like it in is black.
BMW Z3M, looks nice but finding a good one is hard.
BMW E36 M3 no
S2000, only like it in black with red leather, 2004 and 2005 model but hard to come by, I don't like the price of the insurance on these.
Golf R32 MK4, used to like them but gone off them.
Alfa 147 GTA didn't like the thought of it if went wrong.
Subaru not keen on them.
EVO not my type of car.
Lotus Elise yes I would but my friend has one and want something different.
VX220 N/A yes I would but only with low mileage
I have been looking for the right car, for over a year now and I can't come up with anymore ideas. Hope you guys can help? My budget is £8000 to £10000

Mercedes themed thread from me as follows.
. 1. R129 SL. Well preserved (like many of the owners) examples are getting sort after and collectable. Probably the most under rated car around at this time.
2. C36 , 190E 2.3/2.5. These well made little saloons are firming in price as they're great to drive and have sensible running costs.
. 3. Early SLK? Possibly a wildcard entry, but a pleasant reliable year-round future classic.
I was sure it woud be a classic, but the Isuzu Piazza (US - Impulse) just sank into the Quicksands of Time. Especially in UK set-up, it was grand car, ahead of its time and of course designed by Guigiaro.

With the possible exception of the BMWs, I think everything on your list will continue to fall in value before you can hope for any appreciation.Making a long list such as:

I disagree. I think the Elise and VX220 should now be fairly depreciation proof. Mk1 Elises have started to appreciate, you rarely see them much below £7k which has probably been like that for 5-6 years. VX220s are rarer and good examples are already appreciating (especially the turbos). The NAs have dipped down to about £5k for ropey or high mileage examples.Personally, I would love another VX220 - a real event to drive, rare, cheap to service and good to look at. There would be a temptation to buy a modified supercharged example - but I think an original NA with original sports exhaust would take my money ...

Given the OP's choosiness I would buy something I really liked and then hope for the best.
To keep a car for a long time you really have to like it a lot. Otherwise you are not going to forgive its foibles and inevitable problems for long enough to find out whether it reached 'classic' status or not.
