My good pals Dad owned this dark blue CV8 in the late 60s and we are trying to track it down, any CV8 Enthusiasts tell me more ?

The reg number if original is a Hampshire issue, but we have no Chassis number details.

We think his Dad traded it in at Hills of Woodford for a new Series 2 E Type roadster in approx 1970.

Try asking on the JOC forum or emailing Richard Calver via his Jensen info site.

This is rather a late reply but this has not been a forum I usually frequent, but I spotted this post when trawling the internet for anything new Jensen C-V8 related. I am the C-V8 Registrar for the Jensen Owners' Club so if anyone can identify the C-V8 in the photos it should be me, unfortunately there is no record of a C-V8 with the registration of this car, that probably means the car was first registered with a personal plate which would have been retained by the first owner when the car was sold to the second owner. It is possible that if I had a name for the father of the childhood friend I could find out more, though it would be odd to have a record of the name without knowing which car went with it. Is it possible to post a name? If not then perhaps a street name and town/locality for where the photos were taken.

Lovely photos by the way, they remind of when I was the age of the children in the pics.

Regards

John

Morning John, thanks for your reply ! The photos were taken in Nth London, circa 1968 we think and from memory he exchanged it for a new E Type S2 roadster with Hills of Woodford, circa 1970. Will PM you !

What colour was the car? - I seem to recall some years back a rather tatty and patched-up CV8 in a maroon colour - also seem to remember a lincoln green one too. Romford/Hornchurch area.

How strange.........I have just spotted one of these looking very sorry for itself under a tarp on a driveway in Kingston upon Thames and am aiming to take a picture and post it on the 'rotting/dieing ' thread , it is definitely dark and quite likely blue, I will try and get back in daylight over the next couple of days .

I think I remember the maroon car in the late nineties - the owner also had a very ratty sunbeam alpine that I went to look at but spent more time poking around the Jensen which was also for sale...it was definitely east London/Essex borders. About a year later I saw a photo of it on a board displayed by Brian Page of Classic Assessments and had a chat to him about it - he had inspected it for a client and told him to steer well clear! Can't remember the reg but I know it was distinctive as I'd seen it around East London before I met the vendor and recognised it straight away.

This may have been Manor or Princes Road Romford.
There is someone local who may have bought this vehicle as a 'donor' car for a CV8 convertible. Saw the finished car a couple of years ago at a Havering Classic car club meeting. Will have to have a word with my laddo tomorrow as I think he knows the person.

When I was at school in the 60's , one of the govenors used to pitch up and park in the Quad for their meeting in one of these. Would have been almost new I guess, in silver. Always wanted one since.
Our French master, one Tony Tinkel (really!), had a new Mini Cooper in the classic green and white.

But the collection is getting a bit big and expanding, so a CV8 may have to wait. Possibly.

Off to the classifieds........

I did try and race one on the road to Southend as a callow youth back in 1963 IIRC. Had no idea what it was, and shame prevents me from naming the useless car I was in. I was of course, left for dust.
