it's true that from today you don't have to display a tax disc on your front windscreen
BUT - (little known fact)
if your paper tax disc is still current, i.e. runs out after 30/9/14 then it should be displayed in the rear window until it expires
I took the tax disc out of my rear window, reversed the car into the garage, but I'm unable to replace the tax disc as I can't get to the rear window now the car is garaged. I'll have to re-affix it in the morning.BUT - (little known fact)

Will I be OK or will I incur a fine ?

Obvious troll is obvious. The following would be trolling: 'I believe that the 1965 model was the weakest 1.5l Riley made'.
A troll is specifically posting with the intention of antagonising. This was just a crap April 1st-type jape.

I have made a colour printed copy of my disc,it is that good you would think its the original.I keep it in the glove box purely for when I am reversing . Shirly this is OK ,isn't it ? Also I have had rear windows fitted in the back doors of my van as the disc doesn't run out till Aug 2015.Plod would use any excuse ,so I wanted to be safe.
you are to be applauded for your efforts but you must display the original official tax disc in your rear window at all timesand I bet you forgot to print the reverse of the tax disc - details like that would allow the Police to catch you out

That isnt trolling and I dont think that he is a troll. It was simply a rather lame joke.

Oh Sh*t ! I wished I had never read this post. This morning I woke up in a cold sweat thinking ,what about the TVR ? .I didn't want to put the disc in the rear fold down window ,as being plastic ,it would mean "sticking" it on somehow. So, without wanting to be caught out whilst driving with the roof down, I went to a mates metal workshop & he made me a nice? stainless steel holder which I fixed into the gap of the boot shut. This cost me a drink for my mate & will cause a bit of rectification work to my boot shut when my disc runs out at the end of next March. But hey ho here,s a pic Also while I was out ,I took my van to another of my aquaintences to have the rear windows that I have recently had fitted (result of seeing this post)tinted as I don't like people seeing what I,m carrying. He was more than happy to tint them for me at "mates rates". But still a few bob. When he had finished ,only then did he tell me that when the disc runs out on my van ,I will have to have that window tint removed. As this will knacker the tint ,I will then have to pay "AGAIN" to have a new tint applied after taking out the disc. I wish now that I had taxed both vehicles up to the end of September !!

ive tried and tried and can't get a motorbike to fit on the back of my caterham 7. Can I just maybe stick the disc on back-to-front on the windscreen instead?
No, sorryIts a bugger to park, and it really messes up the hillclimb times, but I think it's worth it

ok, i think i've finally got this sorted - I've put a tow bar on, so that I can now tow an old mini metro behind me (facing backwards). The Metro is displaying the Caterham's tax disc in its front windscreen (which is facing backwards as I drive). While the Caterham is showing the Metro's tax disc in its front windscreen (effectively the back as far as the Metro is concerned).
No ,I don't think you have got it sorted. Surely its not legal to show a tax disc in a car it,s not related to ? So you fail on both cars discs. You need to show the Metro disc in the front window of the Metro ,as it is going backwards, and you need one of my custom made stainless steel brackets (see a few posts above ) made for your Caterham to show the disc at the rear. If you would like one ,please send me a detailed scale drawing of the bracket and I will ask my mate if he can make one for you . They are not cheap though Better still ,ditch the Metro and just go with the bracket. Gassing Station | Classic Cars and Yesterday's Heroes | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
