With the demise of the disc what are the chances of further simplification of the DVLA processes? For example:

For 1960 - 1973 registered cars, at the point of passing the MOT, DVLA then check to their insurance database and if cover is in place and the process is complete. Cuts out the need for owners to go on line and declare what DVLA already know.

For pre 1960 cars the same but in the absence of the MOT DVLA could trigger as soon as insurance goes live on their database.

Glad to see the back of paper discs and will be even happier if I'm ridded of the chore of ticking boxes every year for information that DVLA already have!

That would be nice, but there is a certain amount of pleasure had applying for something free. Shame I can no longer go down the local post office to collect my free tax disc any longer

Design your own disc and display that. Though that would cost you 25p
