Whatever it is it looks like it could be the answer to that long running thread trying to determine the ID of a small car in the back of a black and white picture!

Nope. Not least because both the Ashley and the Reliant are tupperware, and the coupe in the pic has a dirty gurt dent in the rear wing.

Yep

But on seeing it again, it's not all the similar.

Hmmmmm what's that behind it though ?! Don't think it's a Triumph Spitfire as the wheelarch is too "square" ?

Isn't it another Ashley, albeit the open-top version? Went to look at one like that in Stoke a year or two back.

Yup looked at the Ashley but it has external door hinges ...

Also the chassis looks to be substantial ...

Hi Guy's,

The Ashley on the truck has been sold at auction, if it's an Ashley Sportiva it has an Ashley 1172 front bonnet, the body of the 1961 Ashley 1172 was the same as the 1961 Ashley Sportiva, so it was more likely to be a 1961 Ashley 1172.

The Roadster in the rear of the photo of the damaged Ashley Sportiva is an Ashley, they changed the external Door hinges to internal on their later models.

You can find all the Ashley History and existing Ashley stories at my websites:

http://ashleysportscarsregistry.weebly.com

All the Ashley models are stored under their webpages listed under the Tabs on the Left Hand Side.

Cheers,

Ivor
