If I'm at Prescott in a fortnight, what do I have to do to earn a free Longstone Tyres T shirt?

I think you'll need to bring the time machine, Huntsman. The freebies are normally in kids sizes only iirc.

I should think the Sima Violet would win. Or the Carden.

How about 295/50x16?

I have these in Cooper Cobras on the back of my '87 Corvette. They work well and fill the arches nicely. Hard to find at a reasonable price though. These two cost me £170 the pair on Ebay recently. They can be sourced in the USA ok, like Maxxis, BFG or Mickey Thompson Drag Radials.

Northants quoted me an eyewatering £250 each!

Any chance of a deal on 4 tyres for my 1911 Ford Model T. Will require inner tubes as well.

Many thanks

Hi

It's been a while since i posted.

Ron V
i can't make it to Angouleme this year, though one of the Longstone tyre experts will be there with a freind and his Austin 7. So watch out Angouleme.

My big blow out this year was Vintage Revival Montlhery. that's me with the orange jacketed passenger at 2:25 minutes on the film. http://www.vintage-revival.fr/

Cobra
I think £ 250 for a 295/50R16 sounds like a reasonable price.

For the continuation Cobras on 16" wheels they use 255/50R16 https://www.borrani.com/michelin-tyres/pilot-sport... I think 295 is too big. I bet the handling is really lary.

we tend to fit the Avon CR6ZZ http://www.longstonetyres.co.uk/page/avon-cr6zz on 15" wheels. they will be much better.

Have you definitely got 16" wheels?

Mr Nice Guy
MGB
This ones easy http://www.longstonetyres.co.uk/page/mgb just fit the 165HR14 Pirelli Cinturato. That is what MG fitted. There is a load of rubbished talked about MGB tyres. bare in mind; if bigger tyres would have handled better on an MGB; MG would have fitted them. On this page we are offereing some great deals on full sets of tyres.

Wish
Model T Ford
A 1911 car would have fitted all white tyres. we have bargain deals on sets of white and black tyres on this page http://www.longstonetyres.co.uk/page/ford-model-t . I think they fitted white tyres up till 1914. Until recently white tyres have been considered as, only used by trailer queens. untill recently they have been; because they have been difficult to get and cost over £ 400 each. However now we are doing them for £ 220 and even less when you buy a full set, so under these circumstances i think on a car that is actually used, when they get a bit dirty and lived in, i think they will look great.

The Model T Ford tyres we are selling now by Wards Riverside and are a real bargain and a genuine tyre from period that was supplied by the Montgomery Wards catalogue, and the (unproven) claim is that by 1927 they were the most common tyre in the world. there are a variety of other tyres listed on our model t web page (above) that are no better than the Wards Riverside and mostly made in the same factory, but the Wards is a genuine period tyre at a really good price.

Hi D,you and your family were missed this year as were the Austin Boys Olly and Bernard and the team not same in the PITS but a great event as always, your man and his MAD TEAM worked very hard to get the car race ready it took lots of guts and plenty of wine to get it fixed hope they attend next year and you as well. I have a 1973 E-Type which currently has Forceum EXP70 205/70 R15 95H tyres fitted. These are coming up to 10 years old and have plenty of tread and no sign of cracking, and even withstood a track day at Blyton.

However, at this age they should be replaced and would appreciate your advice on a suitable replacement for these. My main concern is that the replacement tyre has at least the same rolling radius as the car is low enough already!

While the speedo only overreads slightly, the mileometer is over reading by around 10%,which suggests the original tyres may have had a greater rolling radius?

Any help would be appreciated.

Steve

Hi

Most of the information you want is on here http://www.longstonetyres.co.uk/page/jaguar-e-type

The best tyres are Pirelli Cinturato, Michelin XWX of Avon CR6ZZ (CR6ZZ is really a track tyre)

The Cinturato is currently a real bargain, on top of that next week we will have a special offer for a set of these tyres which will be on this web page herfe when our web ninja's get round to it. This will be a real bargain for lots of Jaguars http://www.longstonetyres.co.uk/page/205-70-r-15-p...

What are the chances of getting tyres remanufactured for the earlier Lotus Esprit and Turbo Esprit? Seems this era of car is not very well catered for, ie high performance wide 15" tyres. eg 235/60R15W.
Pirelli occasionally release P600 for the rear, but not the fronts. Goodyear were OEM I think.
Thanks

You're right it is not a popular tyres size, and i can't see any of the top brands investing in making a tyre in that size. there are currently a few Pirelli's around http://www.longstonetyres.co.uk/page/235-60wr15-pi...

Yes they're 16" (10x16 BBS's). The handlings just fine with a bit of air in them, ..got a lot of torque on an L98 so it can wear tyres out easily and the wheelbase is short so it tends to lend itself to spirited driving on twisty bits as my neighbour in his Elise will testify to! wink
I learned my craft on old GT Fords on crossplies, so I'm at peace with an early warning of impending doom.. eek

The size is perfect as the correct 255 leaves a big wheel arch gap on the rear that looks awful on a C4. ..btw, that £250 is way over the top as I can import a couple of BFG's in that size for £260 the pair, or less if they're Maxxis tyres!

Here the current setup.. (255/50 and 295/50)
