This car won it's class on the 1955 RAC Rally but was later disqualified.
Being a conversion from OTS to Fixed Head, the car retained it's original dashboard. As a coupe, it should have had a wooden dash. Thus the car was disqualified.
Note the cut-off rear wings. I believe this enabled the driver to cut corners without digging the bodywork into the undergrowth, particularly useful at places like Shelsley and Prescott.

Blimey, I didn't realise rivet counters and pedants were around so long ago. That sounds more like an AMOC concours judge talking than someone enjoying some motor sport!

Sadly had to sell it after the financial crash. Remember I live in France and the slump in both the exchange rates and interest rates nearly wiped me out as far as income was concerned. So the cottage and car had to go. It lives in Geneva these days.

Interestingly, after seeing your photo of the Lindner/Nocker car, I thought of this one I took at Montlhery in 2010:-



I guess you know the history of the accident in which five people died, and I thought it in very poor taste that the owner of this replica had come back to the same track with it. He had absolutely no idea about the story and thought it rather "amusing". I had to walk away I was so angry.

Well, it is little known that RS Panels were commissioned to build an exact copy of the Lindner/Nocker by no other than the CMC owner himself, Peter Neumark, and the idea was to do a run of them for sale, but AFAIK only one was built. However, the car I photographed is just "another" replica like many other lowdrags that RS Panels have - most excellently I might say - built over the years. However, the original car is the original tub which was kept under lock and key by the French for many a year and was painstakingly straightened and the roof recovered from Lynx. Not sure I could live with the ghosts frankly. Also not sure who made the one in the photo. Perhaps RS could rebuild me!

I have the booklet they produced and saw the condition of the original parts and I don't know where the line is between original and replica but this must be close.
All that being said and knowing the sad history behind it this Car is very impressive and the skills involved are incredible

On their web site that say they were able to straighten and use 90% of the bodywork. I was referring to the fact that the original mechanical parts were fitted to a new tub but in hindsight I assume these were then finally reunited with the repaired original tub.

Correct. Then an 'exact' replica was built around the replacement tub (using, I think, mostly genuine lightweight parts). Both cars were at the Revival in 2012.
