I disagree, it just looks like a big Alfa to me. It's nice, but by not looking like a Jaguar it hasn't got the same level of want. But maybe that's because I've never been into Italian cars?
Could be, I like the fact that it doesn't look like a Jag. I love 50s Italian cars and when I spotted it from a distance, like you I thought, hum Alfa? But knoing Alfa didn't make anything of those proportions in the 50s somehow knew it couldn't be an Alfa. Anyway it wouldn't do for us all to be the same - at least you didn't say you "hated" it biglaugh

Being a fan of triumphs and many of michelotti's designs I hadn't heard of his d type re body. Seems it has quite an interesting history including coming third at Le Mans !!!!

Downton engineering of mini tuning fame created some weird and wonderful specials including this jaguar xk150/ vitesse Frankenstein. An xk150 shortened chassis engine and running gear with a vitesse body bolted on top.

1954 Jaguar MkVII by Ghia-Aigle. You can hardly recognise the donor car.

Looks like "Poppy" - driven by my friend Graham Paddick. The car was almost totally destroyed by fire not long ago but Graham tells me he plans on a rebuild.

I like the Cooper-Jaguar too, I can't find my pictures of the one I saw at a trackday at Goodwood a couple of years back frown
But I was amazed at how small it seemed and how low they'd managed to get the bonnet line.

Now these I like, different but they keep the sweeping lines I really like on Jags.

Another one from Hampton Court is this, the 1952 XK120 'Jabbeke'.

Another great one which I don't have a digital photograph of is the 1961 Owen Jaguar Special.

Very strong rumours abound about the authenticity of the Jabbeke car. However, here's one for you:-

Other than adding a great big heavy lump of chrome on the nose I can't see what that has achieved.
