I've driven my Triumphs to Classic Le Mans, Le Mans 24 hr, Angoloume and the Spa Classic and fancy something a little different for 2015.

I really fancy the idea of driving to a classic event in Italy. I suppose the Mille Miglia is the obvious choice, but I've heard it can be a little commercialised, so I'm thinking about the Targa Floria.

Has anyone done that before? Is it feasible? Any experiences, advice and stories welcome...

Or is there another European classic event I should be thinking of?

I have watched the Mille Miglia and it is spectacular. Very crowded at times, and speeds are generally quite low, but the sights, sounds, the atmosphere and the thousands of people lining the streets is amazing.

I have also done a couple of laps around the Targo Florio while on holiday in Sicily, but not during the race. The road itself is pretty battered and full of potholes, especially up in the mountains. Two small but nice museums. It would make a nice trip but as a race it has lost most of its appeal, compared to the huge waiting lists of the MM.

The classic Oldtimer at the 'Ring is also worth a shot.

Do it once and do it right: The Monte.

I know its France rather than Italy but you'll get to hoon over snow capped peaks, get up close to the cars and have a hoot.

If France does appeal then the Tour Auto attracts MM cars and very welcoming.

I can't recommend the MM enough, we've been a number of times, driving moderns down to be honest, made a good week of it! We tend to pick a spot and try and sit on a piazza with a bottle of wine one day and then drive a bit the next. We've focused on Spoletto, Sienna, Rome and Bologna in the past. The route is a bit different this year, My favourite bit to drive is from Rome to Sienna. We loved it so much we bought the TR that has competed in 3 of them recently, with the hope of entering ourselves this year, expecting a baby has put pay to that this year (!) but maybe in 2016... A couple of pics to wet your appetite...the TF is also on our list to visit! I've actually got a few pics of the TR I bought from past visits which is quite special!

I've been to the MM in the last 2 years,2013 was good but wet,2014 was pigging brilliant and hot.

It helps that I get free accomadation at my sisters house near Lucca which handily the MM passed through

in '14.

I'd like to go again this year but not sure I will have enough holiday time available.

Drove there both times in my Barchetta.

I would love to do the mm. Also thinking of going this year to watch. I bought a tr2 with the idea to restore on the hope we can get it up to the standard to enter. However I'm still trying to find information on gaps in the car history. Therefore I'm going to look around for another car as well for the mm once some of my restorations are out the way.

Don't get your hopes up of getting an entry to the MM.

I've read that it's not what car you own but who you know.

I have heard that if the car has competed in the mm, then it has priority. Whether true or not who knows lol.
