I wonder if I should have kept....?
Discussion
There's several I wish I'd kept but top of the list without a doubt was my 1965 Lotus Elan S2. Back in the late 70s it was a cheap sports car so when it needed new rear brakes and I fancied going back to rallying I sold it for, from memory, about £650. Of my other cars, the Dolomite Sprint would have been a good keeper while my bog standard Impreza Turbo could also be valuable one day.
My car history cannot compare to that of my oder brother, however. Apart from the Elan which he owned before I did, he had (inter alia) a Jowett Javelin, a 1936 Alvis, a 1950s (I think) Lagonda, an SP250, a 3.4 Mk1 Jag and much else besides. All bought for banger money and run on a shoestring before moving on to the next project.
If only we'd known!

1974 - a University field course in Northumberland and my trusty 1947 ex-Irish Army Jeep 'CJ2A' model...
Sad to report that this has recently been seen - rebuilt into a ''genuine'' WW2 Jeep [M38] -ah well, more valuable like that I guess ....
..and here, same year, attempting to cross the Wray to Slaidburn mountain route via Salter Fell - you can't do this anymore -all vehicles banned nowadays ...

Everyday I regret selling this 66 Big Block.....not just because in the 7 years that has passed it's doubled in value.......But then it did partially help fund my FGT which I still have
I regret selling my 964RS 7 years ago with just 17000 miles and totally original paint etc
But then it funded this which I still have......my boyhood dream car

840 Sport individual
Z3 M Coupe
M3 Evo Convertible
All low miles/owners and all "Dakar" Yellow....

A series 2a lightweight Land Rover and a Series 3 Land Rover. They were both vehicles that I really enjoyed driving and competing in.
As well as that they were a thing that my old man and I enjoyed. The series 3 went as the chassis was rotten and we didn't have any space to change to a new galvanized one.
The 2a went as it wasn't being used enough, both are worth more now but that's not the main reason I regret selling them.
I shall get another one day.

Not long before that I sold a lovely 1985 Lancia Gamma coupe for £800, and a pristine 1970 Corsair 2000E for £1700 (so good it was displayed by the local main dealer for 2 years). The Corsair was recently up for £7000 and it didn't hang around long... Of course the one I have hung onto for 17 years now is my 1969 XJ6 which I paid £4000 for in 1998 - and it's worth oh, I dunno, about £4000 on a good day….
I won't give up the day job then...
