Top 10 80s classics?

dbdb's list is spot on. Interesting that the mainstream volume manufacturers all had half-decent big exec cars in their ranges. Ford Granada, Renault 30, Peugeot 604, Opel Senator. I remember my FIL replacing his Rover 3500 and deciding between a Granada 2.8 Ghia X or a poverty spec BMW 525i for the same money. No brainer for him. I had access to an Opel Monza at the time. Great car.
Porsche 944 Turbo S (only because the Turbo Cab hadn't been born yet)
Maserati Merak SS. One of the most beautiful cars ever, even if it was a bit weak under the bonnet.
Porsche 911 Flachbau. Just for the badness.
Testarossa. Because I wanted so badly to be Don Johnson.
308 GTS. Same reason- Tom Selleck
Beige ('Gold') Ford Cortina Mk 4 L, reg KTG89W. Because my dad had this car and I learnt to drive in it.
1988 McLaren MP4/4 (Ayrton Senna).
That should do for now :-)

I was just thinking about my old 3.0S yesterday - going and arriving somewhere in it was an event and driving it was a hoot. It's something that is far more than the sum of it's parts. By contrast my current 2.8i is very good but it's just not special enough.2) Porsche 928 s4
