Nice 037, that was at the Covent Garden Italian Car meet back in either 2003 or 2007, I was there also with my Montecarlo, the 037 is a great machine.

dbdb's list is spot on. Interesting that the mainstream volume manufacturers all had half-decent big exec cars in their ranges. Ford Granada, Renault 30, Peugeot 604, Opel Senator. I remember my FIL replacing his Rover 3500 and deciding between a Granada 2.8 Ghia X or a poverty spec BMW 525i for the same money. No brainer for him. I had access to an Opel Monza at the time. Great car.

Porsche 944 Turbo S (only because the Turbo Cab hadn't been born yet)
Maserati Merak SS. One of the most beautiful cars ever, even if it was a bit weak under the bonnet.
Porsche 911 Flachbau. Just for the badness.
Testarossa. Because I wanted so badly to be Don Johnson.
308 GTS. Same reason- Tom Selleck
Beige ('Gold') Ford Cortina Mk 4 L, reg KTG89W. Because my dad had this car and I learnt to drive in it.
1988 McLaren MP4/4 (Ayrton Senna).

That should do for now :-)

When I looked at buying an Aston back in 05 these were comparatively cheap but I never fancied the look of them.
Since then they've just gone up and up... Oh well

The Audi Quattro is on the majority of people's lists, which is nice.

I beg to differ. I'd have loved the car it was based on but didn't fancy the Zagato at all.
But then I prefer the DB4GT to the Zagato version of that, not that I'd say no if offered one.

Sorry- it was my clumsy attempt at highlighting typo earlier- 'Zagota'. I don't care for the Aston too much. Anyway...the Zagato that really looks good is the Alfa GTZ . Shame it's from the wrong decade

I was just thinking about my old 3.0S yesterday - going and arriving somewhere in it was an event and driving it was a hoot. It's something that is far more than the sum of it's parts. By contrast my current 2.8i is very good but it's just not special enough.

Why are the names of some cars turning into hyperlinks?
