The PH Classics Track Day 2015
Discussion
Great day, hats off to the motorpunk team for a relaxed and fun format. Me and my brother had a great time, (I was driving the white Mk1 MX-5, Jon in the Black '316d' E36 track car..) I clocked up 425 miles in the day which means about 140 miles on track, which felt like quite a lot last night (I knew I should have bought one with power steering!)
Blyton park is a great track, really enjoyed the layout which felt just right for a lower powered car. Great relaxed atmosphere from the Marshalls.
Special mention to the amazing fire breathing kitten van, downright bonkers Bentley (watercooled brakes?), the beautiful brace of TVR's and of course the V12 E-type, following him for a few laps was quite special...
Cheers Darryl, chalk us up for the next one...

Brilliant day! Still managed to cook the brakes, despite the water cooling. Used almost as much petrol as water! About 120lt of Super unleaded and about 8 x 30 lt tanks of water!! Borked gearbox too!
Thanks for all the comments on the Bentley - makes it so worthwhile..
I could not have gone faster - even grazed the side exhausts!! New Federal 280 section tyres were a bit melted. Brake pads look toast - the fronts are M1144 too.
I will post a few pics later.
Lesley enjoyed her first gig as a marshal too.

Here are data logs of two of the runs I did - the red line (1m 17.3s) is the CSR260 I took to Blyton a couple of weeks ago and the blue line is the best one I did in the E-Type (1m38.2s) The trace starts just after the end of the rumble strip after the start line. I also attach copies of the G-Circles for both cars which explains why the Caterham is much faster in the corners!

It also looked like I borked the transmission as it wouldn't shift out of 1st in D mode today. Checked the fluid and found it was a bit low, so added some ATF to top it up to max and after running around for a few minutes manually shifting between 1 and 2, D started working again. Need to check again later to make sure it still works when the gearbox is cold. Fingers crossed!

Here's a video of Figgle's fantastic (crazy) home built Toyota Supra V8. Thank you for the passenger ride!

Here are some photos of the cars on track - I only took photos for about 15mins, so sorry if I didn't capture you.

If anyone has a photo of the E-type on track I would love to see it!

Great write up to a great day
Thank you for my prize. Sorry I wasn't there to collect it, I was elbows deep into a Pulsar GTiR's engine bay and lost track of time. Unfortunately we couldn't get it running which was annoying as I know how frustrating it is to go to a track day and do less than 10 laps (Snetterton 2013!).
Talk of another one this year? Definitely keen for that. Keep us informed
