Anyone still interested in a 260Z?

My mate who had the orange one I posted about earlier has decided to sell one of his other US import cars.

Generally rust free, running/stopping, but needing re-commissioning and minor tidying.

Would be a great basis for a good car.

I can get details if anyone would like to know more?

There is no such thing as a rust free Z. You need to find the least rusted one you possibly can. THE best places to start looking are from California to about mid Texas, as those are the drier areas and seem to have had good numbers of them there. As said before, the best body is what you want, everything else is easy and mostly available. I live in the states and looked for a while. The best one I could find for the price was a 22 hour roundtrip drive to get it. I had to replace floors(common), the old seals dry and the windshield leaks and the heater valve leaks and rusts out the front passenger floor area. This is something to be expected unless you find that meticulous 1 owner that kept it garaged its whole life. Unfortunately these cars were relatively cheap Datsund and people didn't care much about them back then. Another common area for rust is battery box, and the hatch slam panel, so ask for detailed pictures of those areas too. One area I've seen a few cars rusted out were the front frame horns (Ibguess that's what it is called), the front where the hood hinges bolt to. The problem is you can't really see that area unless you take the headlight buckets out. There is a built in tube that feeds the vent from up there that would get stopped up and there was probably no paint in there to begin with. I really lucked out and found a car in a junkyard that had the opposite one rusted out from mine so was able to cut it off and use to fix mine.

I must have been very lucky

I'm on my 3rd rust free Southern CA Z now....this 280 is incredible.....I took the front wing off to inspect and rust proof....not a spot even on this very vulnerable spot
