Tend to agree with you Toni, but then as someone who quit the club due to differences with the management it was ever thus. Although, in this instance, to be fair I would guess that the tone of the email has come from the organisers, not the club itself. If they are making over a million themselves, who cares? Somebody will want to turn up and take the place. We are now but the cannon fodder.

Good Grief.

And there was me thinking the breakaway Jaguar Enthusiasts' Club was indulging in quite regular flirtations with officious anality... Single marque car clubs eh?.. rolleyes

My view for what it's worth is just take 20% off the admission price if you bring a car / exhibit. Whilst I appreciate that Carfest style events offer more than just cars surely Texas and the other acts were not asked to pay anything but they are only another attraction like the vehicles. Concessions pay handsomely for the pleasure of a pitch.

As a family that attended south last year and has tickets for this year I would like to say what a superbly run event it is. The organisation is of the best quality and caters for all the family. There are even street lighting in the campsite. I can see why it costs o lot and think it's worth it.

Donington Historic are totally the other way and say you can come and go as you please, pop out for lunch, whatever.
Having checked the stuff for this year it's now changed - display vehicles must be inside before 11am, and cannot leave before 3pm, with a note that the local council have insisted on this clause, and that there may be exceptions and possibly occasional crossings inside those times.

To me that's reasonable. You minimise on-site traffic and ensure there's cars for people to look at over what's generally the busiest part of the day. It's a world away from 'doing porrage' at Car Fest South where, unless you've got a trailer queen who's tow-car you can use during the day you're trapped from 8am to 5:30pm. OK there's more than just cars at Car Fest but is there 3-days worth?

Entirely agree, if people can't get there to suit those times it's hardly worth going. Can't comment on Carfest, other than the first one I haven't been. I always do the full three days at CPOP, and usually come away on Sunday evening realising there's a bit I didn't see. Often it's the sun, but even that put in an appearance last year.

A minimum of 25% of the price of each ticket sold goes to BBC Children in Need (registered charity number 802052, England & Wales, SC039557, Scotland), plus all further profits from the running of CarFest.

CarFest has so far raised over £3.5 million for BBC Children in Need. We'd like to thank everyone who contributed to that figure by purchasing tickets, auctioning for cars, buying the t-shirt and handing over all of your loose change!

This table explains how much of each ticket bought for the 2015 events goes to BBC Children in Need:

Am I correct in working the maths out at around £10 million for the organisers to spend to stage the events?
