living in London and on roads in the vicinity are quite a lot of classic cars none are garaged as there are none available; terraced housing.

All are there most days parked on the street outside their homes or nearby, some models off the top of my head 1970 MGB GT, volvo p544, BMW 2002, Mercedes 280sl most in pretty much good condition, one exceptional come rain or shine and we are talking zone 2 not 1.

How do you go about insuring keeping a classic 24/7 on the roads, I could save over a grand not storing mine in a lock-up and use as a local daily.

The first company I rang (Lancaster) offered unlimited mileage, commuting (business use if you like) and parking on the street; although that was a fair few years ago I'm pretty sure they'll still do it. I think Performance Direct will too.

Never had any issues insuring cars on classic policies while parked on the road.

Recently moved house and from 2 garaged cars to 1 garaged/1 driveway and didn't make any difference to my premium.

Oh this is good to know, years ago they wanted classics stored in a garage thatcham alarms even though no way of really fitting that stuff. I quite like the idea of restored classics used as everyday runarounds, just maintain them like when they were new. Can always restore again when they get a bit abused.

You'd definitely not have trouble with insurance! I'm 22, have both my 1952 Land Rover and the Capri insured as street parking and both get used frequently (Landy being my current daily)

What are you waiting for? wink

Yea, not sure I'd park a classic convertable on the street. Most will let in some water when it rains, which is never good in the long run.
