Seat belts in a MGA
Discussion
I've not had personal experience, but I've often heard good things about Quickfit (not Kwikfit). http://www.quickfitsbs.com

are the people to talk to apparently.
They fitted 4 seat belts into my XK150 for me and did a great job. I'm not sure whether Stuart Quick is still there, but he was really helpful and really friendly.
When the laws changed about kids seat belts I had a long battle with the Dept of Transport and they recommended these guys too as being THE people to talk to about anything unusual with seat belt.

I'll be interested on the result of this. Mine came with static belts fitted, which I've changed to inertia reel types. The was buckle mounted to the propshaft cover. However when I removed the cover I noticed there are witness marks on the propshaft indicating that the propshaft was occasionally rubbing on the buckle bolt. 'Fortunately' it hadn't done many miles from the 5 speed box being fitted to the master cylinder springing a leak, limited damage. So in the semi rebuild this has initiated I'm looking into alternative buckle locations. My current favourite is to plate the chassis between the crossmembers in front of the batteries, to provide a mounting point.
My XK120 has static belts fitted - it may be illusory but I feel more secure. The bottom mounts are on the sills and the tops are on the wheelarches, with the third point on the tunnel. I was not impressed with the fitting on the tunnel as the bolts were too long and left witness marks on the shaft, so with the tunnel removed I welded slightly heavier plates on and also welded the nuts before trimming the bolts. Those belts were from JD Classics, who should have known better. I also had a Rover P4 110 - Quickfit supplied inertia belts for it - excellent service. The mounting points were already on the car's driver side for an Irvine static belt, so all I had to do was make a mirror image thing to bolt inside the passenger side pillar. My wife still never liked the car though!
All back from Quickfit SBS with three point inertia period style belts fitted. Can't recommend them highly enough, very helpful and accommodating, only took them 3-4 hours. They were kind enough to let me leave my trailer there which they clamped for me. I then popped over to the RAF museum at Hendon http://www.rafmuseum.org.uk/london/ while they worked their magic.
The belts are perfect, they have made a great job of the installation and solved the hood up/down issue with a simple clip solution on the bottom mounting point. The reels are tucked away up above the wheel arches in the boot nicely. I'll take some pictures when I get a chance.
Now just need to get the DVLA to speed up a bit, documents lodged on the 11th June, still waiting for confirmation of UK reg plate.
