A Jaguar XJ Coupe would be a good addition http://www.carandclassic.co.uk/car/C639658

Lovely collection OP!thumbup

As I said on another thread, Allegro VDP would make a nice addition to your fleet IMHO! But I could understand an XJC being preferable!

But crucially keep them all going and keep us posted please, so we can at least enjoy them vicariously if not first hand. Thanks.

Looooooooooooove the Jag Coupes, but I am now skinteroo after excessive car buyage. Also I would be killed utterly by Mrs BV if I bought any more heaps right now.

Do what Counsel always do..............use the VAT money, much better in a car than in the bank

The only snag with that otherwise most excellent plan is that HMRC are even better at stomping on my nadgers than Mrs BV is, and that's saying something.

BV, keep an eye on thedoctor102 on ebay, tends to offer BL stuff.

Ever paid the old Rover garage on North Circ a visit? Some old BL stuff there...

Is that the Doctor who has a bad rep on Autoste? I know not whether that rep is justified.

Hmmm, shall I or shan't I?

Don't even get me started on the old Jaaaaaaaaags, and DO NOT mention the Marinas (a blue one, please, in memory of my lovely uncle). Allegros are yay cool, but not for me, I fancy.

How about a Morris Ital. My grandad had one which he gave to my brother as his first car. Despite being crap if I'm honest, I do have a soft spot for one, simply because when your 13 and your brother has just past his test and got a RWD car, calamity was guaranteed and can now be looked back on as fun. I guess you could always 'brag' you owned an Ital Design car.

The Midget you can keep, but the Dolomite Sprint and SD1 are classics. The Sprint was the only Dolomite that looked good - it's impossible not to love a Mimosa yellow one as well.

My ideal Landy would be a Series 11 petrol shorty.

The Rover is a mostly original and well preserved 2600 SE, with the straight six engine and a five speed manual gearbox.
Oooh, nice combo. Whilst the PE166 motor had its problems, a good manual 2600 was a great car - mega long legged, plenty of torque and amazingly good on fuel - they were capable of over 30 mpg on a run, unheard of back in 1978 for a car in that class. A bit different to the usual V8 as well.

I love the 2600, and it is exactly as you describe it. The Dolly is fun too. I would like a Series 2A Landy, but could not find one that was any good and not expensive, predictably enough. I got lucky with my 1500 quid eBay Series 3. It has proved to be most untroublesome, and has a rather lovely engine: a variant of the one used in the Rover P4, and very smooth by late 1950s standards (the Series 3 Landy being in effect a 50s car from the 70s).

Today's news is that a Jaguar-shaped gap in the fleet may be getting filled. More tomorrow, possibly.

A post BL addition, albeit a car that has BL origins. Now, with the (non BL, obvs, apart from the parts bin bits) Lotus, also shown below, my BritFleet is complete.

In Naval terms -

Rover SD1 - Battlecruiser (or maybe fast Battleship), Fleet Flagship
Jag XJS - Heavy Cruiser
Lotus Excel - Light Cruiser
Dolomite Sprint - Destroyer (or maybe Frigate)
Land Rover - Fleet Auxiliary/Amphibious Landing Ship/Troop Carrier

Congratulations on the purchases. I've been looking at the XJS myself for a little while; they've really come into their own I think.
