As for two Jags, well...

If you want to buy a car, buy a Jag
There's room in the back for a shag
There's a biscuit tin
To keep your Johnnies in
If you want to buy a car, buy a Jag

If they catch you in the back seat trying to pick her locks, they'll send you back to mother in a cardboard box!

More BL filth, I wish I still had both of these...

The baby poo yellow 2000TC had a power steering conversion fitted just before I bought it which made it a real swizz to drive, quite pokey too for a four pot. The Cameron green 3500 Auto lacked power steering but I soon got used to heaving it around. I sold it to pay a biggish bill on the P5B I also had at the time which was a mistake.

Jonno's lovely SD1 again alongside my third P6, another 3500 Auto which came with power steering...

No advert nowadays could show a car getting airborne! Things changed by the 80s/90s. Saab got done by the ASA when they advertised the 900T taking off. Another cool advert for the Dolomite is this one. Note that the 0-60 time is NOT 11.4 secs - that is the 0 to 70 mph time. 0-60 is 8.5 ish, from memory.

I looooooove the interiors of the early Rangeys. The later interiors are meh, I think.

Not seen that ad before BV, note the S3 XJ cozzer mobile.

This early Rangie is often seen in the staff car park at Leamington Spa station, a little scruffy round the edges but a lovely thing to see being used on a daily basis, there's an early pre-production example in the same colour at Gaydon...

Reminds me - Gaydon has just re-opened after a major revamp with another 250 cars now on display, lots of Jags and general BL stuff I believe.

Just remembered something else - an Aunt of mine had at least two Triumph 1300/1500s in the early '70s, one was turquoise blue on 'L' plates which she used to ferry my two cousins and I around in, happy days. Pretty sure she had a 2500 later on too. She ran a fencing company and her chauffeur / general handyman didn't take to the Triumphs much at all and preferred to cart her about in his Mk3 Cortina GXL, in lurid metallic lime green / beige vinyl roof get up. He was a bit of dude as I recall old Mr.Gill, a chain smoking dead ringer for Dave Allen, but with a full compliment of fingers.

A pair of 1973 BL heaps, my 2000TC and a mate's 'B GT, in our old works car park back in 2007...

Brand new BL heaps in 1977...

The SD1 line shot is strangely devoid of people. Tea break? Strike?

Probably all three! I saw a dark brown SD1 on the M6 the other day, wafting along very nicely. Most cars of that period look small compared to moderns, but it still exuded a whole heap of road presence.

How long was the overlap when P6s and SD1s were being produced together?

Approx one year (76-77). The last P6s had SD1 seats.

Contrast the P5 and P6, both in production during the period 1963-73.

That raises an interesting point about when or if one car replaces or supplements another in the range.

The P6 was, I think, supposed to succeed the P6, but they found separate market niches. The SD1 was definitely the successor to the P6, and the SD1 was also, in effect, the replacement for the Triumph 2500.
